Chapter 16
Cindy's POV
It felt nice to have my mum by my side again after so long. The drive home from the supermarket was a surprisingly long one due to the lunch break rush hour traffic.
We arrived home, with my poor feet crying out from exhaustion. I quickly introduced my mum to all the other staff, and funny enough, I didn't even find it surprising to see my mum and Grace hit things off like they had known each other for ages.
Sitting down in one of the sofas in the living area, I watched Simon make continuous trips to the car to get the groceries, I smiled at him, grateful for his resourcefulness.
I also observed how the man couldn't keep his eyes away from my mum... his senses were all attuned to her, especially when she laughed, it was honestly so adorable.
Too bad mom wasn't looking for a relationship.
My waist was hurting so bad. I really couldn't wait for my baby to come out, I was so tired already.
Reaching for the remote, I turned on the T.V to check what was happening in the news.
I must have zoned out after sometime, for when I came to, I heard faint voices coming from the kitchen towards me.
Mum and Grace waltzed into the living room, with Grace wielding a bowl of fruit salad in her hands, obviously for me.
I jumped up and reached for the bowl before she could say a word, much to the chagrin of the two older women.
I blushed embarrassedly, my mouth stuffed to the brim. "Sorry... I just can't help myself."
My mum and Grace burst into another bout of laughter, launching into tales of how my increased appetite was normal and whatnot.
As they spoke among themselves, I thought about how nice it was to have my mum here with me, and even contemplated asking Dr. Mike if she could move in with us, but I brushed away the thought almost immediately, not wanting to come off as ungrateful or anything.
Mum had told me that she and Janet had moved out of the Smith mansion... that they were working somewhere else that didn't pay quite as much. But at least the important thing was that they were happy and that they had each other. For that, I was grateful.
Before long, mum had to leave.
She had waited a little bit longer to see if she could meet Dr. Mike, but it seemed today was one of his late days.
I was disappointed when it was time for her to leave but she explained to me that she'd come by one of these days when it was her day off.
Mum left after a few tears... happy tears and a long hug.
Simon offered to drop her off.
Later in the evening, Dr. Mike returned from the hospital exhausted.
I was exited to tell him all about how I found my mum at the mall and how he had just missed her since she left not too long ago.
I could tell the older man was a little disappointed because he wanted to know more about my family.
I comforted him with the knowledge that she was going to be visiting very soon.
That piece of information seemed to calm him down a bit.
Dr. Mike went upstairs to his room after a light dinner and I followed to mine about an hour or two later.
Anonymous POV
News of Cindy's pregnancy spread like wildfire among the maids. Most of them believed she was trying to trap Brian and some believed otherwise.
I had been working to get that stupid Cindy out of the house since I noticed her closeness to the love of my life.
