Cindy's POV
I woke up with a start when my alarm blared. I quickly went to the washroom to freshen up. After I was done, I dressed up and was heading towards the main house, when Bro Yaw, the driver came up to me. “Cindy, your mum asked me to tell you that, you’ll be accompanying me to the airport.” I was definitely surprised, but anything that'd help me skip chores and get to see new places was fine by me.
“Okay.” I replied shortly and went in search for my mum. I found her in the kitchen as usual preparing breakfast for everyone. “Mum good morning.” I said, going over to give her a hand.
“Good Morning dear, how was your night?"
“Good, but why didn't you wake me up? I could have helped you a little before it was time to do my work.” I answered back.
“Cindy.” Mum called out with a sigh.
“It's my work and moreover I don't want you to be stressing yourself.”
“Mum! I'm the one supposed to be saying that, you work too much.” I argued, causing her to roll her eyes at me."Whatever. Go and help Janet with her mopping chores instead. Breakfast will be ready by the time you are done." Mum said, dismissing me.
“I'm supposed to leave with Bro Yaw to the airport by 11.” I told Janet.
"Really?… how lucky. You get to be one of the first people meeting the Smiths after a very long time.” She said, not bothering to hide the look of envy on her face.
“I hope they have a cute son. Lord knows you need a boyfriend." She continued, causing me to gape at her.
“What do you mean by that, you know very well, that's not going to happen.” I replied with a smile.
“We don't even know the gender of the kids and you are already daydreaming about my nonexistent love life.” I said with a shake of my head.
“Hey! Don't say that.” She admonished cheekily.
“You know Mr. and Mrs. Smith are old… their kids are definitely going to be in their 20s so embrace yourself gal." Janet said, laughing at the disgusted look on my face.
“Why are we best friends again?” I asked mockingly.
"You know you love me so. Anyways let's get this mopping over with. I'm starving.” We quickly finished cleaning and headed to the kitchen for our breakfast. It was 10:30 and Bro Yaw and I were ready to leave for the airport.
“Cindy please make sure you help with the luggage when you get there." Mum cautioned for the hundredth time.
“Yes mum.” I answered and hopped into the car. The gateman opened the gates and we drove off.Since we lived in an estate not far from the airport, we got there with about thirty minutes to spare. We headed to the arrival area to wait for them.
I had lost my phone a while back so I had nothing to entertain myself, thus I watched as people arrived and left. Bro Yaw spotted Mr. Smith and his wife not long after. They were not alone, however… with them were two people who I assumed to be the kids. They were no kids though… more like adults. At least that's what they looked like to me. I quickly stood up and rushed towards them to help with their luggage.
Mr. Smith saw me first and smiled at me. "Cindy, how are you doing?" He asked.
“Fine sir.” I replied, taking the trolley from his hand. Bro Yaw took the other one from the younger man who looked like a younger version of Mr. Smith.
From what I remember, Mr. Smith had always been the nicer one. His wife rarely smiled and never regarded us maids so I wasn't really surprised when she just walked ahead with a girl my age at her side.Bro Yaw drove off after we had all settled down in the mini van.
We arrived home and all the staff were at the entrance ready to welcome the Smiths.
Janet gave me a knowing smirk when we all alighted and I shook my head at her childishness, heading towards the booth to get the luggage out of the car.
"Hey." A deep voice said behind me causing me to jump up in shock. It was Mr. Smith's son. "I'm Brian, and you are?"“Cindy.” I replied timidly with my head bowed. It surprised me that he was now acknowledging me, I mean we were literally in the same car a few minutes ago. I quickly dragged the bag to the house in hopes of escaping the conversation but the bag was too heavy so I had a little difficulty taking it up the stairs.
I met Brian's sister at the top of the stairs and smiled at her but she frowned and said. “You better watch it. That bag is fucking expensive."
She brushed past me rudely, causing me to sigh. She was definitely like her mum.
“Sorry about my sister. Lisa can be annoying at times" Brian said behind me, interrupting my thoughts and catching me by surprise all over again.
"Let me help you with that." He said, reaching out for the bag, but I stopped him.
“No sir I'm okay.”
"Don't be stubborn and stop calling me sir, I told you my name. It's obvious you can’t carry the bag." He said as he grabbed the bag from me.
I watched him as he easily took the bag up the stairs to his sister's room still standing there in shock."
“Look who's already in love." Janet whispered in my ears causing me to jump again in fright. Why was everyone just creeping up on me?
I turned to her, slightly irritated. “Stop it Janet. I'm not in love, he is like our boss do you know that?
"Whatever gal.” She said with a roll of her eyes. “Your mum asked me to call you, she wants us to set the table for the Smiths." I nodded and we both walked to the kitchen to get the table ready.Hope you liked it🤗.
