hikari & akumu

it is 9:00pm, akutagawa has just successfully completed a mission. the mission was difficult but akutagawa left with only a few scratches and bruises.

higuchi approaches akutagawa, she bowes and states.

"mr. akutagawa, sir you can go home now if you wish." he hums. "hmm, thank you."

akutagawa exits the building, he enters his car and begins his drive home.

"hikari, akumu, are you two hungry?" atsushi lifts the two children and sits them each in their kitchen seats, and begins to start dinner.

"p-papa...?" hikari whimpers.

"yes, hikari-" atsushi turns his head and sees his daughter crying, and repeatedly opening and closing her hands.

"hikari, honey, why are you crying?" atsushi quickly lifts and hugs her.

she digs her face into atsushi's chest and begins sobbing, atsushi pets her head. "hikari, what's wrong?" hikari removes her head from his chest and attempts to slow her breath.

"i-i miss..d-daddy..!" hikari hiccups. atsushi sighs, he's glad nothing's physically wrong with her. "don't worry baby. daddy will be home soon, i promise!" she looks up at her father.

"w-weally..?" she whispers, atsushi nods. "yes. he will be home later and when he gets home, he's going to smother you with love!" hikari beams with happiness, quickly forgetting she was crying just seconds ago.

"y-yay!" atsushi sets her back in her kitchen seat and quickly kisses akumu's head, akumu distracted by his pacifier during hikari and atsushi's conversation.

atsushi resumes preparing dinner, while hikari plays with her bib and talks with her brother.

akutagawa arrives in front of his apartment, he walks to the door and unlocks the door.

when he enters the apartment, he sees atsushi cooking in the kitchen and the twins seated in their kitchen seats. "welcome home, ryuu!"

"daddy!" hikari yells in excitement, she wiggles in her kitchen seat. akutagawa smiles and walks to her and lifts her in his arms.

"hi baby, how was your day?" he kisses the top of her head, she giggles.

"good! i missed daddy!" akutagawa sets her in her kitchen seat. "i missed you too, sweetie." he lifts akumu and tickles him, he giggles. "hi, d-daddy", akumu stutters.

akutagawa walks towards his husband, he wraps his available arm around atsushi's waist.

"hi, jinko. how was your day?" atsushi laughs, he turns his head and kisses akutagawa's cheek. "it was good. after i got home from work, the kids were exhausted from their play date with aya. they were tired most of the day, but i was given a sudden mission so i asked junichiro if he could watch the kids and he agreed. the mission was easy as usual though. how was your day, ryuu?"

akutagawa removes his arm and sets akumu in his kitchen seat. "it was okay, i was given a very difficult mission but with the help of gin's stealth, we succeeded with only a few scratches and bruises."

atsushi hums, he finishes preparing the twin's dinner and puts it on each their little plates.

akumu and hikari both thank atsushi.

atsushi and akutagawa sit at the dining table, each next to one twin and begin feeding them spoonfuls of their food.

they begin a small conversation while feeding the twins and both eating their own food.

after finishing dinner, shin soukoku and the twins cuddle on the couch and watch a movie.

in the middle of the movie, atsushi notices the hikari's fallen asleep on akutagawa's chest and akumu's fallen asleep leaning on his arm, while akutagawa is falling in and out of sleep.

atsushi smiles, he whispers, "ryuu." akutagawa slowly opens his eyes again and hums. atsushi's eyes dart to the twins, akutagawa sees them and nods. atsushi lifts akumu, akutagawa carries hikari. they both walk to the twin's room and set them both in their beds.

akutagawa kisses the top of hikari's head and whispers a 'goodnight.' atsushi does the same to akumu, they quietly walk toward the door. atsushi leans against the door and sighs, akutagawa wraps his arm around his waist, pulling him closer. atsushi leans his head on the ravenette's shoulder.

"how did i get so lucky?" the jinko whispers, akutagawa looks at him and kisses the side of his head.

"how did i end up with such a beautiful and wonderful husband?" atsushi giggles. they exit the room and walk to their bedroom.

akutagawa slips into bed, atsushi doing the same.

"hmm, i love you jinko." the ravenette whispers. "i love you too, ryuu." atsushi kisses akutagawa, the kiss was quick but gentle.

the lights soon turn off, welcoming the darkness of night and accepting sleep.
