As days progressed, the tension in the air only grew thicker. Derek and I, though a blue and a red, (as well as opposites in many other ways) were the same in our petty behavior.
One morning I awoke to a coffee in a small paper cup on my bedside table. It had a handwritten note with Derek's hand writing across it. It read;
Alice, things have been crazy between us. I made you a coffee in hopes we can mend this relationship.
-Derek
Of course I should have known better then to except this letter as a truth. Especially by his tone previously telling me to, basically, "watch my back."
Drinking the coffee only led me through a school day of drowsiness, drooling on desks and an inevitable visit to the principal's office.
Obviously a confrontation was in order.
"Derek what is wrong with you? Like seriously?"
"What ever could you mean.." He responded sarcastically. He didn't looking up at me, but instead kept an attentive eye on his book.
"I was sent to the principles office for sleeping all through classes! Don't play stupid, I know it was something in that coffee."
"Hey, I told you things would be the same. You messed up hon, and this is only the beginning. He said, looking me in the eyes giving a huge mischievous grin.
I huffed, and scrunched my face tightly as I dropped my arms dramatically to my sides.
I turned on a heel to my separate room.
After that event, I had realized his true game plan. Two could play at this game.

The next day I filled my head with ideas for revenge. Then something wonderful hit me.Surprisingly, Derek had this weird shtick for hygiene. He couldn't stand dirty things. A perfectionist, if you will. He especially wouldn't like a smelly room with all the attention seeking, needy girls he's been bringing around. (Just to bother me, of course.) So, why not cause him some embarrassment with one of his little girlfriends. After all, he deserves it after interfering with my studies.
The plan started by waiting for Derek to leave. This didn't take long because I knew he was going to pick up a 'chick' (a term he likes to use) soon. He made sure to tell me, in an attempt to make me jealous, I suppose. Obviously, I'm not.
Once gone I gave a little evil cackle knowing everything was going exactly according to plan.
The few pairs of gym socks I previously stole out of his dirty laundry stayed in a black grocery bag. I had stored it away for this exact moment. I retrieved the bag making my way to his unlocked room.
Time made the socks even more vile. I grinned as I placed them comfortably under his duvet. This truly would be a surprise for the pair.
His room didn't directly reek when you walked in, but the moment they hit the bed, Oh the stench will be otherworldly. I gave a final giggle while hurrying back to my room, and waiting for the two.
The door handle jingling caught my attention, and I tried to hold back my excitement. I slyly walked out of my room, attempting a whistle. I continued to the kitchen making a drink, and watching the two out of the corner of my eye. I held back my smile.
The were touchy and all over eachother. It made me sick, truly. Not because of jealousy or anything, it was just weird, whatever. It didn't matter though, soon i'd be the one on high ground. Watching his face as eyes widen with embarrassment.
They turned into his room, almost shutting the door fully. I could see through a sliver of a crack. The two were now mashing their faces together already, of course. He pushed her onto the bed, and I could see the girl quickly pull away.
I tried to hide my smirk, as I knew just what she was going to say.
"What's wrong." I heard Derek voice softly ask.
"Um....not to be rude or anything, but something smells really bad. Did you not even try to clean before bringing me here?"I could see her face pulling away from his and turning slightly. She narrowed her eyes as she asked her question.
"What? No, no my hygiene is great. I literally can't stand a dirty room, I'd never bring you back to something trashy." Derek's once calm voice became frantic as he lifted of the girl.
"Well something kinda really reeks."
The look on his face was the funniest thing i'd seen in awhile. His mouth fell open, and eyes stared on in disbelief. He had that "This can't be happening!" sort of look. It was hilarious. I continued to contain my laughter for a bit longer though, just to see what else would happen.
He hopped off the bed pulling the girl, once under him, up with him.
"Oh my god." I heard him squeak out, The same look rested on his (more red than usual) face.
"I'm so sorry, I must have forgotten to throw these in with my laundry....I..." His voice faded off, and the girl walked out of the room.
"I mean okay...maybe we can continue, uh some other time. Maybe when your room smells a bit better.."
The door closed with a soft click behind her, Derek still stood frozen with embarrassment.
"What's wrong? Forget to clean up before your booty call? That's pretty gross, especially for you Derek." I gave him a pouty face as I spoke. My coffee cup reached my lips as I finished speaking. A grin that I couldn't keep away from my face any longer arose on my face as I drank.
"You." He turned. I could tell he was pissed. I kept myself steady continuing to rest upon the counters edge. I was ready to hold my ground. This situation was still incredibly laughable though, I will admit.
"How dare you sabotage me like this."
"Don't even go there buddy, you started it." I glared at him.
"I was gonna be a nice guy, maybe even forgive for the words you said to me that night. But now, Oh my god, it's on Alice." He closed his door aggressively, but careful not to slam it.
"Whatever, I'm not scared of you." I spoke to myself taking another long gulp of coffee. I wasn't actually sure if I believed myself and the words I spoke.
