Memories

Dongwook was startled when Jaehyun slammed the door to his room shut. It still amazes him that the kid can use his abilities inside his highly neutralized cabin in the woods. Letting Jaehyun roam around on his own is not a big deal since he can protect himself but there's always that emotional aspects that may or may not happen while he's outside, and that emotional aspect is a certain human named Johnny Suh.

"I won't ask what happened but I bought pig's blood, just drink up when you feel like it" Dongwook knocked on the door gently.

The elder understands, Jaehyun was turned at such a young age, he probably didn't experience any of these emotions at all, so he understands it. Jaehyun barely talks about Johnny but the blood pact itself explains everything, Jaehyun is literally willing to die for this human.

Saying what he feels is a heartache is literally a joke. He doesn't have a heart, well, he had one but it's not functioning anymore, so this throbbing feeling in his chest must be all in his head. It has been years since that fateful winter break, of course Johnny would forget about what happened and find someone who he can be with, an actual mortal girl who can give him a normal life. Who is Jaehyun again? Oh, just a vampire tied to him, a creature who will keep him safe, that's all of Jaehyun.

He's a monster after all, no one would want to be with him.

"I'm...still...not dead...but I'm not alive too" Jaehyun must have looked crazy talking to the ceiling, he's tired of everything.

Johnny immediately called Jungkook. "HE WAS WITH ME" his hands were still shaking, it felt like a mirage, like it was all an illusion, as if he imagined everything. Jaehyun was just there, but then he's not, it was so confusing.

"Are you sure that he did all these...alone?" Jungkook was staring at three dead vampires with twisted necks.

"I didn't think he can...but he was alone"

"How...on earth-" Eunwoo examined the bodies

"And he didn't lay a finger on them?" Jungkook asked, Johnny nodded.

"No struggle marks either" Eunwoo confirmed.

Jaehyun is a lot stronger, scarily too strong if you ask the vampires. Eunwoo and Jungkook looked at each other as if they can talk in their heads "It's an old technique, but somehow, he figured it out and can do it smoothly...they killed Mr. Kim, I'm pretty sure someone is working with Jaehyun and they want us out of this" Eunwoo analyzed everything.

"He can't hurt me, we have a pact" Johnny interrupted them.

"He can do it to other people...even us"

"Jaehyun, you are friends, he won't do that!"

"He won't, but he's working with someone"

Johnny clenched his fists, he's just glad that Wendy didn't see the horrific moment he experienced, that girl would have been traumatized.

Jaehyun was in-charge of buying groceries and pork blood today and everyone's busy in the market, there were a lot of old vendors and family-ran businesses. Jaehyun was waiting for his turn to order pig's blood when an old man stared at him for so long, it creeped him out.

"Private Jung? I thought they tortured you" the man smiled at him, everyone stared at them because the old man clearly stands out.

"Grandpa!! I'm so sorry, my grandpa has alzheimer's he's probably saying nonsense" the granddaughter apologized to Jaehyun.

"Dahyun, my granddaughter, meet the man who saved my life and gave me an opportunity to live this long" the grandpa hugged Jaehyun, it was a genuine hug, Jaehyun knows he's probably one of the kids he helped.

"It's okay miss, maybe grandpa is feeling sentimental today" Jaehyun patted his back, comforting him, just like how it was decades ago.

"I still thank you for helping us, me and Sungmin, we were looking for you aftee we crossed the border but they said you didn't make it...but here you are!! You didn't grow old at all, look at me with a few of my teeth left and my white hair" the man chuckled, everyone must have thought that Jaehyun is just being a nice kid but in reality, this man is giving him pieces of his lost memories.

"You are very welcome, comrade" Dahyun mouthed a thank you when Jaehyun was comforting the grandpa.

The man entertained himself and talked about what they went through during the war and Dahyun even bought them tea while they talked about these 'memories'. Everyone in the shop thanked Jaehyun for entertaining and alzheimer's patient and Dahyun even asked for his number since her grandpa really liked talking to him.

"I saved thirteen children and helped them crossed the border" Jaehyun explained to Dongwook while putting away their stocks.

"I'm surprised that he remembered your face"

"I guess I left an impact on his memories" Jaehyun grinned, a genuine smile that happens once in a while.

Dongwook ruffled his hair, Jaehyun's never been this thrilled while talking to him, the kid is starting to open up to him now.
