After Robert and his mother's death, a neighbor came over to check up on them, as he was worried about them because no one had seen them in days.
The neighbor that went over to check up on them was none other than James Joseph Johnson.
When he didn't get a response after knocking on their front door for almost ten minutes, and with the evidence of them seeming to show that they never left their household, James kicked open their front door.
A quick search through the Carlson household revealed the rotting corpse of Beverly Rose Carlson, Robert's mother.
James unfortunately couldn't find any traces of what could've happened to Robert.
A missing persons report was put out for Robert, but no one ever found him.
After months of searching for him, the authorities declared that Robert was dead.
James however, kept searching for Robert.
Eventually, after almost a full year had passed since Robert's disappearance, the remains of him were found.
But it wasn't his skeleton that was found.
Instead, it was a picture of Robert, his mother, and Ivy, all smiling in the photo.
On the back of the photo, was a short message from Ivy herself.
The message read:
"You'll never find him, or his remains. What was once his body, is now just fuel for mine. But know this: Robert is, for certain, dead. So stop wasting your time on trying to find him."
After James found and read the message, he did indeed stop searching for Robert, as he had a gut feeling that Robert truly was gone forever.
This entire event completely impacted all of the residents of Ryme City, and beyond.
Some people and Pokemon decided to try and find Ivy, but by that time, Ivy had covered her tracks all too well.
