My entire body throbs with pain as my heart pumps furiously to heal myself. I groan, and try to take shallower breaths to keep my chest from moving so much. Agony rips through each time anyways. Wasn't I dead? Am I in Hell? I slowly open one eye, then shut it tightly again to block out the bright light over me. Either I was in Hell, or almost there. I sigh and open my eye again. I blink furiously to get it used to the sudden change from darkness to light. I open the other eye and blink more again too. Once I'm used to it, I try to lift my head but the effort was too much and I had to give up. A small rustling next to my left ear makes me freeze. I slowly point my eye to the left and what I see nearly makes me scream. A large, dripping, black, scaly, smelly thing was right next to my eyes! It took up my entire peripheral vision to my left! I could see nothing but that. Then, it twitches, its dripping water splattering against my cheek. I moan and try to move away, but it only moves closer. What kind of a creature is this?! My eyes water from the stench and my position, me weak and defenseless, and that thing could easily nap me up in a heartbeat. It twitches and shakes once more, but this time a rush of hot air and snot and water comes flying and covers my whole face. The black thing starts moving upwards at an even pace, and then silvery fur. After the fur, a black line covering jagged canine teeth stretch over my face. More hot air and water drip over my face as its shiny, yellowish teeth loom over me.
Disgustingly, after it yawned, it started licking my face clean! Its rough, slimy tough scraped up and down on my face as the snot disappears and saliva takes its place. After licking my very clean, it sniffs me again, then steps back a foot or two and sits down. What I see amazes me. A beautiful wolf, with strong, rippling muscles and thick fur, with its muzzle at the perfect angle to look just over me in a sign of a higher position in the pack's hierarchy, and its tail standing up in a sign it is either an alpha or of the alpha's family. It looks into my eyes and I see its tail drop slightly. Maybe it's not an alpha; it's most likely a beta. I stare into its eyes and its muzzle pulls back slightly to show a little bit of teeth to warn me of my place. I quickly divert my eyes below its' and pray it doesn't bite me. It only lies down and curls up next to me providing warmth. The light is rapidly disappearing over the horizon as day turns to night. I watch the stars pop out then close my eyes, allowing myself to fall to slumber once again.
Heart pounding and blood pumping, I leap over a large stump covered in rotting fungi. I reach to my waist only to find my Katana was missing! Where was it? In fact, where was I? There was no time I would not have my katana on me. I fall to my hands and feet and push myself faster like an animal would run. Dirt and small leaves fly up behind me in my desperate escape. I look back behind me and see the glowing red eyes. I push myself faster. When I turn my head back forward, I see a large black shape looming in front of me. I try to swerve around it but I had too much momentum behind me. I smash strait into it, blacking out immediately. I feel my body being dragged backwards, tearing the skin from my legs and waists as some unknown creatures pull me away. Then, one suddenly bites into my calf and I silently scream, a metallic taste flooding my mouth. Its strong jaws bite deeper and pull the muscle from my bone slowly, so I feel the blood pool up underneath me. Then I open my eyes, screaming again, until I taste blood coating my tongue. One animal leaps at my neck, and right when its teeth clamp on my neck, I sit up gasping. Safe.
I sigh, feeling the wolf jump up when it saw I was awake. I smile and make a small wave to it. It gives me a toothy pant in return.
