You feared lies, yet you were given a family of liars.
This small family of three promised never to leave each other's side. A human bard boy, a tiny wisp of the wind, and you had promised to remain inseparable- to form a family from those without f...

SCENE I
"I missed you more than I thought."
Those words of his rang in your ears.
Over the next few minutes, they played on a loop, stinging each and every time they repeated. As you processed what your old friend had said, the room was silent. Neither you nor Barbatos had uttered another word.
You were dumbfounded. Your countless hours worrying about what terrible things he thought of you had been buried deep with just a simple sentence.
"He's just drunk. He's just drunk."
You had to keep reminding yourself of that significant factor. After all, not in a million years would he say something so kind to you while being sober. You and Barbatos' unique backstory was not something that could be forgiven so easily, so there was absolutely no possibility he would miss your presence, let alone admit it.
But, even with these contradicting facts, you hoped it was true. Deep down, you truly hoped that he had missed you.
You didn't want to feel that way, but you did, and you desperately wanted to deny it.
Before the two of you had your falling apart, you were inseparable. After all, that is naturally what happens after two beings share the same, unfortunate loss of someone dear to them.
You and Barbatos had lost a best friend, and it took an equally devastating toll on the both of you and your mental state. It always having been an entwined trio, suddenly losing one would result in the remaining two to rely on each other like no ends.
Whether that be because they were simply the only two left, or because the two constantly reminded each other of the loved one they had lost, depended on the case.
In your case, it was definitely in memory of the passed, for you and Barbatos never really got along from the first time you met, but only tolerated each other because of your joint friend. Simply, you envied Barbatos' "closeness" to your passed friend and vice versa, thus resulting in a jealous relationship between the two of you- always nagging and fighting over who would get to spend the most time with him.
It was tedious, and unfortunately, you only realized this after the worst possible thing had come to happen.
Nevertheless, the situation forced you and Barbatos to make up and become closer than ever. When he was in need, you were at his side, and when you were in need, he was at yours.
