Chapter 12: Last Day Or Maybe Not?

You heard the morning announcement and you slowly awoke being reminded that the time limit ends at 10 pm tonight. You slowly got ready for the day and with a big sigh you walked out of your room.
"Is this truly it? Is this how it's going to end?" You though to yourself as you were walking to the dining hall. When you entered the dining hall you noticed something was going on.
"What's going on here?" You asked a bit worried.
"Yeah what's wrong?" Kaede asked as she entered the dining hall.
"Oh Y/N Kaede. Perfect timing I...really don't know what to do. Ryoma started talking crazy." Rantaro explained scratching his head.
"All I was doing was making a suggestion. So that more people can survive. Even just one more." Ryoma said.
"You're not suggesting that you be killed?" You gasped looking at Ryoma.
"What do you mean by that Ryoma?" Kaede asked.

"Don't you get it? If time runs out like this we'll all get annihilated y'know? The only way to avoid that is to play along with this killing game." Ryoma explained.
"What?! Now hold on a minute!" Kaede yelled.
"End me." Ryoma stated his eyes closed.
"Do you even realize what you're saying?!" You yelled. "Sure I get it you think it will help because of the time limit and the blood perk but Kaito and I we'll stop this killing game!"
"You can't be that idealistic." Ryoma sighed.
"We promised we would get out of here together!" Kaede exclaimed trying to reason with Ryoma.
"Hmph I hoped it'd end that way. That's why I waited so long to bring this up." Ryoma replied. "But we've just been waiting for the deadline without doing anything to change it. There's no more time left for idealism don't you think?"
"You thinking that Monokuma will actually keep his word is idealism! Monokuma could just be lying about this blood perk or there's some catch that we don't know yet. But you doing this sacrificing yourself this isn't the answer!" You exclaimed.

"I'm going to end this game. I've already decided." Rantaro smirked.
"You're going to end this game?" Kaede asked shocked and confused.
"It's not about outfoxing everyone in this killing game it's about ending the game itself. That's the real goal." Rantaro darkly said.
"Can you even accomplish such a feat?" Korekiyo asked.
"I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't think I could." Rantaro shrugged.
"And how will you end it? You understand that the time limit expires tonight yes?" Kirumi asked.
"Haha sorry can't tell you. Actually if I could o wouldn't be having so much trouble." Rantaro answered.
"What do you mean?" Ryoma asked.
"Just what I said I'm going to end this game." Rantaro declared looking everyone in the eyes his voice sounded as if there was no chance he would lose he truly meant it.
"Hmph when you put it like that it seems like I still have a ways to go." Ryoma muttered touching his hat. "Do what you want whether you guys live or die is up to you." Ryoma said and then walked away.
"Geez that Ryoma...I hope I helped calm him down a little." Rantaro gritted his teeth placing his hands on his hips.
"Ryoma is right whether we live or die is up to what we do next." You mumbled and then left the dining room.

You didn't know what exactly to do it seemed as if everyone had their own plan but no one was communicating. You walked around the campus and then you saw Kaito.
"Hey Kaito!" You called and waved to him.
"Hey Y/N!" He waved back with a huge grin.
"You seem happy even though we only have a few hours left." You commented with a small grin.
"Trust me we're going to make it out with you by my side I can take on ten exisals!" Kaito beamed.
"I'm sure you could." You giggled.
"I'm going to have a strategy meeting and you should be there but if worse does come to worse you should go to the manhole and try the tunnel again. I just want you to be safe." Kaito softly spoke placing his hand on your shoulder.
"If you want me to be safe then I'll stay by your side that's where I feel safest." You grinned staring into his eyes and you saw a blush appear on his face.
"Y/N..." Kaito trailed off looking into your eyes.
"Where is the meeting going to be located?" You asked.
"The game room." Kaito answered.
"I'm going to head there. I'll see you once you gather the others." You smiled and made your way to the game room.   You were in the game room waiting around and watching the clock. The minutes felt like seconds. Hours felt like minutes and you felt as if your life was slowly running out.

"Okay strategy meeting!" Kaito yelled as he barged through the door with Tenko, Gonta, Maki, Himiko, Angie, and Rantaro. 
"Oh Y/N is here too. I should have known since you're usually around Kaito." Rantaro chuckled.
"Gonta noticed that too!" Gonta smiled.
"Atua says it's because Y/N likes Kaito." Angie beamed.
"Y/N liking a stupid degenerate male weird." Tenko commented giving you and Kaito a weird look.
"Nyeh makes sense I would believe that." Himiko stated looking at the ground.
"It's not like that!" You and Kaito blushed.
"Come on don't we have bigger things to focus on?" Maki sighed crossing her arms.
"Maki is right! We need to focus on the plan! We don't have much time left." Kaito sighed with a frown on his face.
"Well I'm going to the bathroom." Rantaro said.
"Wait are you sure you want to do that?" You asked getting a bad feeling in your stomach.
"Yes I'm sure I want to go to the bathroom. What do you want to come with me to make sure no one kills me?" Rantaro laughed.
You rolled your eyes. "Just stay safe Rantaro." Rantaro then nodded and left the room.
"Man I don't want to start the strategy meeting without him." Kaito sighed scratching his head.
"What do you want to wait for him outside?" You asked.
"Just give it a couple minutes." Tenko said. "If he isn't back then Kaito, Y/N and I will go look for him."
The clock was ticking even more and you were getting more and more worried and your hands started to tremble. Kaito then wrapped his arm your shoulder.
"I'm shaking too but you know I would be a complete and utter mess if you weren't here." Kaito admitted looking into your E/C eyes.
"I'm glad I met you Kaito no matter what happens to us." You softly said.
"I'm glad I met you too Y/N." Kaito replied trying to muster up a smile.

The time limit was getting closer and closer and no one had played the game. Your heart was pounding and you gripped Kaito's hand and you felt as if you were going to die from the anxiety of waiting.
"Don't lose hope Y/N! Even if this is the end face it with a smile! We can't let Monokuma win no matter what!" Kaito yelled trying to encourage you.
"It's been too long we should look for Rantaro." You said trying to distract yourself.
You, Kaito, and Tenko walked out of the Game room and you saw Shuichi and Kaede.
"What are you guys doing?" Kaito asked causing Kaede and Shuichi to jump from being startled.
"Well never mind. Your timing's perfect. You should join our strategy meeting." Kaito said.
"Kaede is definitely welcome to join." Tenko smiled.
"Strategy meeting?" Kaede asked confused.
"When the time limit hits we're gonna fight Monokuma! We gotta plan for that battle!" Kaito explained putting his fists together.
"Better to die fighting than not fighting at all." You shrugged.
"Hold on come with us the Mastermind is in the library!" Kaede exclaimed.
"The mastermind?" You questioned.
"We'll explain later but right now we need you to come with us." Shuichi spoke in an urgent tone. "We might really be able to end this killing game."
"A-Are You serious!?" Kaito asked not fully believing his words.
"You just need me to aikido throw them right? I'll take them down!" Tenko declared getting in an aikido stance.
"No I'll be the one to take them down!" Kaito yelled.
"I have my doubts but let's find out. Kaede opened the door!" You ordered.
Kaede opened the library door with shaky hands and when you all stepped into the library you didn't see anyone at first. But you saw Kaede and Shuichi start running to a bookcase and as you followed them you saw a pool of blood. Then you saw Rantaro dead on the ground.
