Chapter 11

1100 hours

Hall of Great People

OK, you got me. Mike wasn't wrong about the mouse hole- or, at least not completely wrong. I had noticed something strange about one of the mouse holes: there wasn't enough rat poop. Granted, that was a good thing. But to me it wasn't so much of a good thing or a bad thing. Since finding SKORPION's base would mean confronting them. And the last time we confronted a leader of an evil organization my parents nearly died. So I wasn't in a big hurry for that experience again.

After all this thought, I was still excited. So I grabbed the edge of the mouse hole and pulled.

To my surprise, and everyone else's, the entire wall moved. And knocked me on my bottoms. (Cyrus sighed)

The entire wall was on hinges and it was 1milimeter off the ground, so thankfully I didn't need to move the entire wall with friction. The wall hit its designated stopping point and lights turned on inside.

It was an office, like the one the Croatoan had. A small room with a table for someone to plan the destruction of the world. There wasn't an obvious plan though, since there was a LOT of dust on the table.

There was a garbage bin though.

"You think there could be anything in there?" I asked

"Check," shrugged Erica

Before I could head inside, Catherine stopped me.

"If you lose your arm and your nickname will be lefty, what happens if you get squished to death?" She laughed

I blushed, she had definitely been reading my diaries.

Hi, Catherine.

Hello, Ben. ;) -Catherine

Hopefully she puts something above this sentence, although if she doesn't it's more of a good thing.

Catherine then quickly dismantled the trap. I honestly don't know what my new nickname would have been without Catherine. Although "dead" would be a very good competitor.

I walked into the room and the lights turned on automatically. I took the garbage can out, I didn't want any other traps that weren't activated to activate on me while reading SKORPION's garbage.

We went through the garbage piece by piece. It was disgusting, turns out if you're hiding in a government building throwing out the trash is a very hard thing to do. We found used tissue paper, gum, all sorts of stuff. Although there was a letter:

Hello operative,

As you may know, our previous plot has been thwarted. And we believe that they are onto our backup plan. So, as a result of this we shall move our plot and operate remotely. After a large-scale conference has been initiated, our operations will be moved to Tianjin. Exactly where we cannot say on paper. Please meet us at the Temple of Heaven on may 17th at sundown for further information.

Your operation director

It was May 15th today. We had 2 days to prepare and decide to either arrest the operatives or hear about the plot. Certainly, if we arrested operatives (maybe even the director of the operation) their plans would be delayed, but I can almost guarantee that it will continue. SKORPION has proven to be adept at replacing agents on a previous mission.

"Should we go to Tianjin first?" I asked

"And search the entire city? That shouldn't take more than a day," said Erica sarcastically.

"What are we supposed to do then?" I shot back annoyed

"I think we should prepare listening and recording devices at the Temple of Heaven, we should still be there ourselves though. Just in case something goes wrong and we have to spy on them ourselves. I know capturing only some of their agents would seem to be a good idea, but knowing their plan and where their base is would be better." Answered Catherine.

That was exactly what I had thought.
