The three had continued their stroll for only a couple of minutes until they saw a clear opening.
"Wow! No more forest! What a surprise," Paintbrush said sarcastically.
The clearing looked kind of familiar to Fan. Then it hit him. Pretty hard.
Fan tried standing, but the weight of his guilt pushed him down. He began to cry quietly. Lightbulb walked over to him and began to pat his head. "What's wrong, Fan?"
"T-t-this is the p-place she was t-taken..."
Lightbulb's eyes widened. "Oh..."
"What's wrong?" Paintbrush came from behind.
"This is the place... perhaps we can find some more clues here," Lightbulb said in a semi-serious tone.
They started to search the area. After much searching, Fan let out a gasp.
"Did you find anything?" Paintbrush shouted.
Fan picked the item up.
It was a dress. A rather torn one, to be exact. The blue gradient gave it away.
He began to punch the ground.
"Fan? Paper? What is this?" Lightbulb walked up to him and picked it up.
"She was wearing that when the monsters attacked."
Lightbulb could barely hear his voice as it was drowned out with sobs.
"Wait. Does that mean there's a possibility she may not be wearing anything right now-"
Lightbulb lightly slapped Paintbrush in the face. "Paintbrush, you're thinking in the wrong direction. But look, Fan! We're one step closer to finding your girl!"
Fan tilted his head up. "I guess you're right about that..." his face brightened," we're gonna find her!"
They continued to search the area, not noticing the movement occurring in the nearby bushes.
<time skip yay>
The sky was darkening, and they were settling in. Fan rested his head against a rock. After his most recent find, his head was full of thoughts. Picking up the dress, he gave it a close look. His eyes averted to the dry blood found staining near the waist area. Fan then remembered that she had been grabbed there, strong enough to cause a relatively serious wound.
Oh... I hope you're still alive out there somewhere, Testy...
"AAAAAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!"
A loud scream suddenly shook the clearing. Startled, Fan snapped out of his trace. His eyes laid on a dark silhouette, which was standing over Lightbulb. She appeared panic-stricken.
"You better stay away from my girlfriend, you creep!"
Grabbing a nearby object, Paintbrush hurled it at the monster. It bounced off its face and began to howl. The group moved closer for a better look.
It was a wolf creature, its beet red claws clawing at its face. The object had somehow attached itself to the creature, piercing its legs into the eyes.
Tearing the cube from its face, the monster retreated into the darkness.
"What was that?!" Lightbulb exclaimed.
"Never seen anything like that before," Paintbrush added.
"I think that was the same creature that took her," Fan facepalmed, "C'mon, we gotta follow it!"
Lightbulb rushed after the redhead, not hesitant.
Noticing the cube, Paintbrush picked it up and ran after them.
