It couldn't have been here for long. The Jotuns would have noticed it sooner otherwise. But how? That was the question, how did they get it? Loki pondered these questions as he walked down to breakfast one day. It must have been on the day it snowed. The new brought cold had made the oncoming rain turn into snow.
Loki stepped into the room to find Sif talking rapidly to the warriors three. Well, Volstagg seemed a tad preoccupied with a powdered donut. Loki hid behind a pole and listened in.
"I don't trust her." Sif was saying. "I'm telling you, she was the one who called the guards away from duty. She was there, staring at the Casket. What of she is a spy?"
"Sif, you worry too much. Loki seems like a lovely lady. If I am not mistaken, I think you are a little jealous. Perhaps Thor is spending a bit more time with Loki than with you?" Fandral said.
Loki felt a twinge of guilt. He really was a spy but no one would believe Sif.
"I am not jealous! I am simply asking you, why was she there at the exact date of the guards being called away?" Sif exclaimed.
Loki stepped out from his pole. He acted as of nothing had happened and that he just casually walked in. Hogun had opened his mouth to respond but quickly shut it when he noticed Loki.
"What?" Sif asked. Fandral cleared his throat awkwardly. Sif turned around and saw Loki. She scowled and walked out of the room. Loki tilted his head.
"What's wrong with her?" He asked sweetly.
"Oh nothing. Just some...anger issues." Fandral covered up quickly. Loki decided to put the boys put of their misery and change the subject.
"OMG VOLSTAGG WHERE DID YOU GET THE DONUT, I LOVE THOSE THINGS!" Loki yelled.
Volstagg looked startled. "Oh em gee?"
Loki giggled. "No silly. The letters, OMG. It stands for oh my gosh. Its a Midgardian expression."
Volstagg raised a thick red eyebrow. "Oh..."
Hogun handed Loki a donut. "So where is Thor?"
"He left this morning. Something about fighting....what was it? Bilgewater?" Loki said.
Fandral laughed. "Bilgesnipes. They are these gross creature things. Don't worry, Thor will be back by dinner."
Loki smiled and chomped down on the donut. After breakfast, he bid farewell to the warriors three and went to seek out answers. He stopped outside the Allfather's chambers before nervously knocking on the golden door.
"You may enter." A voice rang out. Loki hesitated fore a moment. Then, he determinedly walked in. Odin was sitting on his bed.
"Um, Allfather, if you don't mind, I wish to ask you some questions." Loki stuttered nervously.
"I know. Sif told me about yesterday." Uh oh.
"I'm sorry for intruding your vault, but my curiosity overcame me. Please forgive me." Loki said.
"Ah, curiosity is good. Too much, though, can be a sight dilemma." Odin said.
"Well, my question. There was a glowing blue box. Now I am no expert, but I read a book in your library about a similar box called the Casket of Ancient Winters. It supposedly resides in Jotunheim where it sustains the life force. How is it here?" Loki asked.
"Mm, the Casket. It was a bit hard to steal, that powerful relic. It was heavily guarded. Luckily, my sweet wife, Frigga, she knows magic. She placed an illusion on line of our warriors, making him look like a Jotun. He sneaked past the guards unprovoked. When he reached the Casket, he used a simple illusive spell to replace the Casket with a fake one. So, by the time he brought back the Casket, the Jotuns would still have not known it was gone." Odin said proudly.
