As they entered November, the weather turned very cold. The mountains around the school became icy grey and the lake like chilled steel. Every morning the ground was covered in frost. Hagrid could be seen from the upstairs windows defrosting broomsticks on the Quidditch field, bundled up in a long moleskin overcoat, rabbit fur gloves, and enormous beaverskin boots.
"Can you imagine?" Said Heroneka. "Quidditch season is on!"
The two girls were in the dorm, while Hermione examined Heroneka's locket.
"On Saturday, it's Gryffindor versus Slytherin. If Gryffindor won, we would move up into second place in the house championship."
"Harry will have his first match, right?" Asked Hermione. "I hope he practised well."
"Yeah, he practised for weeks for this match," Heroneka said as a matter of fact. "Oliver has been making sure of that."
"Hmmm" Hermione took a sniff from the tiny bottle. "He's been lagging on his homework so much though. I wish Oliver would stop going so hard on him. I have to deal with all his homework."
Heroneka chuckled. "A lot of people don't know that Harry is playing. They are keeping him as a secret shock for the Slytherin team."
"What is this thing?" Hermione shut the tiny metallic bottle. "Did you get a note with it?"
"Yes, I did." Heroneka nodded taking back the locket and wearing it around her neck. "It was my Godfather who sent it. I have no idea who is that. He said that he would come up to Hogwarts to meet me."
"It has PROPERTY OF ANGELIC WITCH carved on the side of it." Hermione bit her lip. "I checked the library, but I found nothing about you, except the fact that your mother was a professor at Hogwarts. Your father was a very powerful Auror. He was famous for using dark magic against the dark wizards."
"Where did you find all that?" Heroneka frowned. She was stunned that Hermione had been reading about her parents in some book.
"Hogwarts A History," Hermione said coolly. "Harry is mentioned there too, but it is about the fall of You-Know-Who. Your mother used to teach Angelic Arts here at Hogwarts. It was a very advanced and unique stream of magic. Very few students would take the subject."
"Oh..." Heroneka breathed. "Does anyone still teaches it here?"
"Nope." She shook her head. "The book says after your mom got pregnant with you, she left Hogwarts. Since then, nobody was able to take over her subject. They had to shut it."
Heroneka didn't ask anything else. How come people were getting to know so much about her family and she didn't know even a bit about herself.
"I tried to look for a picture too, but no luck," Hermione said apologetically. "I didn't find one."
Seeing Heroneka getting a bit upset about things, Hermione changed the topic.
"So... Did Malfoy talked to you?" She raised an eyebrow at her. "You said he wanted to talk, right?"
"Yeah, he wants to, but I haven't," Heroneka mumbled. "How can I? He set up Harry and Ron."
"But isn't Malfoy the one who gave you your father's picture in the first place? Maybe he knows more about him or your Godfather?"
Heroneka couldn't deny this. Draco's mom had been close to her father. He had told Heroneka that his mom was like a sister to her father. They were really good friends back then.
"I think, I will try to talk to him more." Heroneka nodded positively.
Hermione smiled weakly at her. She had become a bit more relaxed about breaking rules since Harry and Ron had saved her and Heroneka from the mountain troll, and she was much nicer for it. The day before Harry's first Quidditch match the four of them were out in the freezing courtyard during the break, and she had conjured them up a bright blue fire that could be carried around in a jam jar. They were standing with their backs to it, getting warm, when Snape crossed the yard. Heroneka noticed at once that Snape was limping. Heroneka, Harry, Ron, and Hermione moved closer together to block the fire from view; they were sure it wouldn't be allowed. Unfortunately, something about their guilty faces caught Snape's eye. He limped over. He hadn't seen the fire, but he seemed to be looking for a reason to tell them off anyway.
