Silo
I wake up early just before the sunset and quickly change into clothes I usually wear for working. I quietly exit the room and tip toe past Wilbur's room to not wake him up. I turn to the stairs and quietly walk down them, after reaching the bottom of the stairs and look down at my shirt and suddenly bump into something.
"AAAHH!!!"
I jump back and look up to see Wilbur with a surprised and a worried look.
"Oh sorry did I scare you? I'm used to wake up very early because I traveled a lot, it must be a habit."
I take a few deep breaths and bend down putting my hands on my knees and letting out a small chuckle.
"Oh boy, I must've woken up the whole village."
He sheepishly smiled and looks out the window as the sun is barely shining through the far hills. My eyes travel to the side and get fixated at the broken wax which I didn't clean up last night.
"We should probably tell the village about what happened. I think they should know, but at the same time I'm scared they would go into panic."
I walk over to the table and sweep up the wax into a neat pile on the table.
"Just tell them what is going on and tell them that if they all work together then we'll have enough food for the village. Talk as calmly as you can and make sure they don't freak out."
Wilbur placed his hand on my shoulder as I formed words in my head of what I should say.
"I should probably go to the village center, I can announce it before noon and then we can do our best to get enough food."
Wilbur simply nodded and we both went on to grab our bags and some of other things we needed. I picked up my iron sword and figured I could sharpen it at the tool smith. We both headed out as the sun had just barely peaked from the far hills. Hastily we slayed the monsters and collected bones from the skeletons.
As soon as the sun rose the village started to wake up and I stood in the village center on a barrel. The village soon noticed my stern and slightly concerned look as the gathered in the village center. After all the village stood in the village center I took a deep breath and glanced at Wilbur who sat on a bench across from me behind the crowd who stood infront of me.
"My village of WestWood Hills, last night I got a letter had written by our King Technoblade. In the letter he stated that a group of unidentified species has been pillaging the western villages and has stated that they are extremely dangerous. Thus making importing resources impossible, and with the newcomers in our village, our silos empty and our farms unable to keep up. Please do not panic as I have a plan that could possibly save us. I am proposing that we have a few men out at night to collect bones to create bonemeal which will hasten the growth of our crops. That will let us expand our fields and we can then grow more food to feed the village."
I looked around at the village my stomach slowly untying as murmurs and nodding was seen amongst them.
"Yeah! We can do that!"
"I'm sure that will save our village!"
"Yeah! We're with you Mayor!"
Could be heard through the villagers and them quickly going about their jobs as a few teens and young adults staying behind.
"We can fight at night! So we will go sleep right now so we can go out at night!"
I nodded and dismissed them, Wilbur got up and stood infront of me pleased.
"How was that? Did I sound nervous? I'm sure it went well right?"
"It went beautifully the village sounded very motivated. I saw some villagers head home but I think they are getting the bones to make bonemeal."
I took a deep breath in and let it out to calm my nerves. Wilbur suggested we head to the fields to assist the farmers, working tirelessly all noon and evening with little breaks. One of the silos was full with a lot of crops to be turned into food and our village had a feast. We were able to expand the crop fields a ton and filled up another silo, the young adults and teens worked very hard at night and had close to no casualties at night.
The village was happy and well fed, filling up our third silo ment we had more than enough food for the whole village. Soon after a week of hard work I had stood in the center of the village once more.
"My humble village of Westwood hills! We have officially filled up our forth silo! We no longer need to worry about food, now we can build more buildings and collect other resources! Thank you everyone who helped the farmers and those who cooked the food and those who risked their lives to collect bones at night! I, Mayor Y/N am deeply grateful for all of your hard work."
The village was ecstatic and clapped, the village was very pleased.
"But I must thank Wilbur Soot, who proposed the idea of bonemealing our crops, please say thank you to Wilbur-"
I cut myself off as I didn't spot him in the crowd, I looked around hoping to spot him but to no avail. The village was concerned as they too looked around.
"Oh I think he went home, he is a traveler and isn't used to this much work."
I lightly chuckled as the village agreed but my gut telling me something was very wrong and something definitely not right. I dismissed the village and hastily hurrying home, my boots tapping on the cobblestone path and my heart beat in my chest is all I heard through my sprint home. I quickly stopped at the soft sobs coming from my stable, I cautiously walk over to find Wilbur hugging his sheep and the weeping came from him.
"Wilbur? Are you alright? What's wrong?"
I open the door to my stable and kneel beside him, placing my arm on his back. I could hear him softly mumbling something.
"I- Not like last time, too much... I can't... not like this."
"Wilbur."
I can feel my gut turning at the sight, he turns to me with puffy red eyes and tears fell down his face. He leaned and rested his face in my shoulder as I felt more tears escape his eyes. Why was he so upset? Did it remind him of something? Was he scared of crowds?
"Wilbur what's wrong? Are you scared of crowds?"
He nodded and sighed softly patting the back of his head. I stand up and he stands up too, and he is looking down due to him being much taller and couldn't hide in my shoulder. We walked inside and I took him to his room but he held my wrist before I could leave.
"Stay, please."
