The Dark Lord was no more than a mortal body, build of flesh and bone and destroyed as easily as Bellatrix.

In the aftermath of the war, Ethaline's parents fled before she got a chance to speak to them. The blonde sat on the ground around the rubble that once was one of the grand entrance. She sat with her head resting on her knees, tears streaming down her face as she stared at the ground tainted with the blood of her aunt.

All she could think about in that moment was Harry.

"What are you plans after the war? Or with who?" Lizzie had asked only a day before.

Ethaline didn't respond the way she had answered in her mind, she wanted to spent her time with Harry no matter where it was. She had assume that the war was raging inside the school and by the yards, but she didn't get up to help.

What she didn't know was Harry Potter frantically running through the school, shouting her name as the biggest smile took place on his face. The glass on his glasses chipped slightly. He shook people as he asked where she was, "Has anyone seen my girlfriend?!" He asked in frustration.

"Last I saw her she was fighting Bellatrix, her parents were there as well as Draco."

Harry didn't need another reason to stay there before darting elsewhere. He was out of breath, his limbs moving as if they were in jello from coming back from the dead. All throughout his last moments with the soul stone, he had a nagging voice in his head that almost made him turn around. Ethaline's sweet voice calling him back.

Promise me you'll come back to me, Ethaline had told him.

I promise.

He lied. Harry had no intention of coming back but by the grace of unknown higher ups he made it back, and he was not going to waste a second of his second chance on anyone but Ethaline. He knows he'd ever fallen in love only once, but that's all he needed.

Ethaline Malfoy was the one for him and she was enough to make him live, just like Hermione doubted. His love for Ethaline was so strong, so powerful against evil forces that it was enough to bring him back to complete his promise.

So when Harry saw her crying on the ground, a body next to her as she held onto her wounds he knew he had messed up. She believed he was dead when Hagrid brought him in, his death having so much of an impact on her skills that she had completely forgotten about the battle in the face of grief and loss. Her chest ached like never before, she could physically feel her heart shatter when she saw Harry limp on Hagrid arms.

"Ethaline..."

Harry reached for her right before her head snapped up and immediately her tears dried. She shot up to her feet, a furious look on her face. Harry immediately backed away, "I can explain—"
