After two months of not trying to have another baby, Hortense was at work and she felt painful stomach cramps. She had to go home because she was in so much pain. Matilda came and picked her up from work and took her home. Hortense was worried that she was severely sick. Matilda was going to stay home with Hortense and Blaire. Hortense mostly rested on the couch in the living room for the rest of the day with a heating pad on her lower stomach.
"Do you think you could be pregnant again?" Matilda said. "Oh no, Quackmore and I stopped trying a few months ago, remember?" Hortense said. "But it's when you stop trying is when you get pregnant in most cases. What did you two do for your anniversary a few weeks ago?" Matilda said. "I can swear until the cows come home that I'm not pregnant," Hortense said. "You felt this way when you were carrying Blaire's egg. I think you should go take a pregnancy test," Matilda said. "I'm not pregnant," Hortense said. "Come on, go take a pregnancy test, it might make you feel better knowing that you can rule something out," Matilda said.
Hortense went and took three pregnancy tests. When she looked at them, they were all positive. "What are the results of the tests?" Matilda said. "They're all positive, I'm pregnant," Matilda said. "What are you going to tell Quackmore?" Matilda said. "I don't know. I don't think that he wants any more children. Him and I both work and Blaire is so young and we've got to take care of her," Hortense said. "Do you not want to keep the baby then?" Matilda said. "I want to keep the baby but I don't know how Quackmore will feel about me carrying another egg," Hortense said. "I'm sure he'll be happy that you're pregnant again," Matilda said. "I know that I'll have to tell him soon before I pop this egg out of me," Hortense said. "Obviously, or before you start to show too much more," Matilda said.. "Do you think you could watch Blaire this weekend?" Hortense said. "Sure, I can watch Blaire for you two this weekend," Matilda said.
