Scrambling to keep pace
I took off and ran today
Got so stressed out
I didn't know what to do
My brain shut off and I ran
Headphones in
Music playing
Gravel flying under my shoes
Grass slippery under my feet
The sun is setting
And I'm still out here running
Shutting out the world
Trying to regain my strength
Running down the canal
I pass by a tree
Not just any tree but a crab apple tree
Running running fast
Seeing that tree i stopped in my tracks
Memories once long forgotten
All came flooding back
Crab apple tree you made me cry
Hysterical not knowing if to laugh or cry
I fell to the ground
Tears filled my eyes
A cruel joke from the world
Or a message from above
I still do not know just why
But crab apple tree you put tears in my eyes
Memories flooded through my mind
Hope is not lost because of you
That crab apple tree that made me cry
Running free
While the sun sets in the sky
