Older You Pov

Seattle Grace Hospital. Wow, who thought I'd get in? That day was my first day as an Intern. I sat at the breakfast table of the little hotel I was staying in. I remember the taste of the waffles, I had that morning as if I was eating them right now. But that's not the point. So let me tell you about what happened after that delicious breakfast.

Authors Pov

It was 9 am and y/n was already late for her first day. Going through the long halls of the hospital felt weird.

"Now where the hell are they ?" Y/n thought to herself when she finally saw the other interns entering an OR with a tall, older man.

Slowly they entered the OR. It was beautiful. The older man was Dr. Webber. He was the Chief of this hospital wearing his dark blue scrubs and long white coat.

Your Pov

"Each of you comes here today hopeful, wanting in on the game"

This already sounds terrifying. I hear the door open and a girl our age enters the room. I turn my attention back to the chief.

"A month ago, you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today you are the doctors. The seven years you will spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line, this is your arena. How well you play, that's up to you."

Wow. I expected a lot but, this is insane. My plan was to follow my fathers' footsteps, Dr. Mazing. He was a legend until he passed away from brain cancer two years ago. Funny, a neurosurgeon with a brain tumor isn't it?

In the locker room

I can already hear gossiping behind me.

"Only six women out of 20." says the girl who arrived later than I did.

"Yea and I hear one of them's a model. Seriously, that's gonna help with the respect thing? " An Asian woman with black curls answers her.

Are we in high school? If yes then those would for sure be the mean girls.

I try not to listen anymore. When I hear them talk about being on "the Nazi's " service.

Quickly I make my way to the front when I hear my last name being called.

"That's the Nazi? I thought the Nazi would be a guy." Yang says in a funny tone.

"I thought the Nazi would be ... a Nazi." Grey agrees.

I look up after fixing my stethoscope. They're right. The supposedly Nazi is a small black woman with short hair and a serious face.

"Maybe it's professional jealously ."

"Maybe she's brilliant and they call her the Nazi because they're jealous. " I finish a tall blondes sentence and she nods. That's probably the model Cristina and Meredith talked about earlier. She steps forward and walks faster than us.

"Maybe she's nice. Hi, I'm Isobel Stevens but everyone calls me Izzie. " her hand floating in the air as Dr. Bailey looks at it in disgust. Uh oh.

"I have five rules. Memorize them. Rule number one: don't bother sucking up I already hate you that's not gonna change. Trauma protocol, phone list, pagers, nurses will page you. You will answer every page at a run. A run! That's rule number two. "
