Not a single muscle wants to get out of my warm bed this morning. It's like there are heavy chains all around my body. I look over at my alarm clock. We have a late start today. It's 8 am. Not too bad.

I hear little footsteps coming up the stairs and look at my door suspiciously. It can't be one of my roommates.

"Y/n !!!!" I hear the moment my door flies open. There she is, my little sister. Just standing in the hallway in Seattle? What is she doing here?!

"Baby! Look at this mess you need to clean up." my mom enters my room. Alana is already seated at the end of my bed when I see my grumpy teenage brother walking into the room. His hands are in the pockets of his baggy jeans but he's smiling. Weird.

"Mom?! What the-. What are you doing here? I need to work I don't have time to babysit!" I exclaim because I am already used to this.

"I am not here to leave the kids, carago!" My mom answers with the Spanish accent lingering in the background.

"Yea we just wanted to visit you, Sissy! We drove for 6 hours can you believe that?! And Camilo kept waking me when I fell asleep. Tell him that's mean! Can we go to the hospital with you Sissy?!" She definitely had too much sugar. I smile at my younger sister and feel someone missing next to my mom.

My father died when Alana was only 2. She is 7 now so she almost doesn't remember but my heart still aches every time she speaks about him. It was harder on my brother though. He knew dad was dying. God, he is so big now. I remember being 15 and I did not like it.

"Somebody backed muffins. Can we go downstairs and eat some?" Alana asks. I nod, put my blanket to the side, roll my eyes at my mom who is randomly folding my laundry, grab my sister's hand and put my arm around Camilo.

"You stink." my brother tells me. We laugh as I hit my hip into his ribs and walk downstairs.

In the kitchen

"Damn Izzie don't you think we need some more muffins? " I ask looking around the kitchen. She must have baked at least 4 dozen of them. Good thing we have guests.

"I know something is missing I just can't put my finger on it, but I don't want to call my mom," she replies not looking up at me. I glance over to George and he waves his hand in front of his face implying Izzie is crazy.

"Is this what surgeons do in their free time?" Cam asks sitting down on one of the bar chairs next to the kitchen island.

"Who are the kids y/n? Don't tell me you kidnapped them. We really don't have time for that." Iz says grinning at Alana. I feel her little hand squeezing mine. She has always been shy in front of new people. Mer walks in behind us with Derek.

"These are my siblings. Camilo 15, and Alana 7. My Mom is upstairs her name is Aleida I rather not say her age but let's just say really young." I look around proudly and see Mer and George waving at Alana with warm smiles. Derek doesn't look at them cause he is busy with breakfast and Izzie goes around the Island to ruffle through Camilo's hair.

"Hi I'm Isobel but please call me Izzie. This is George. Meredith. And our boss, Dr. Shepherd also known as Derek. " I laugh but Cam looks weirded out.

"Y'all live with your boss?" he asks with big eyes and Alana giggles.

"I don't know. Do we Dr. Shepherd ?" I ask, but instead of looking at Derek, I look at Mer. She giggles and Derek starts making funny faces at Alana. My siblings each take a muffin when my mom comes down the stairs.

"Hija, todas estas personas viven en tu casa?" my mom asks and I nod stuffing the muffin in my mouth before she dares me to speak. But then I chew quickly to explain that this isn't MY house.
