Remus knocked on Sirius' door that morning feeling confused and conflicted, but what he was sure about, was that he wanted to see Sirius. Seeing Sirius was somehow calming and exciting all at the same time, and the boy had the ability to fix everything without doing anything but existing. Remus had it bad.
"Oi! Wake up, James or I won't let you do the party later!" Sirius hollered into their dorm, probably towards James' room, as he opened the door for Remus. "Hi!" Sirius said cheerfully.
Remus grinned and let himself in, as he always did. "What party?" He asked as he stole Sirius' cup of coffee to take a sip.
"Oh it's nothing. Just for my birthday." Sirius said, making grabby hands for the cup back.
Remus whipped his head up. "Your birthday? When is it?"
"Er... today." Sirius responded, looking sheepish.
"Today?" Remus demanded. "And you didn't think to tell me? I need to get you a gift! I-"
"Re, please!" Sirius cut him off, laughing a little as he set the cup down onto the coffee table. "I don't really tell anyone. I just don't care much for my birthday. I would rather you not get me anything anyway."
Remus furrowed his eyebrows. That sounded like someone he knew. That someone also shared the same birthday as Sirius. Odd. "Well I think that's stupid and silly. I'm helping James with the party." He stated.
Sirius shook his head, a smile playing on his lips as he began walking to his room. "Whatever you say, Remus. Give me a minute and we can leave."
With a mischievous glint in his eyes, Remus plopped down onto the couch, reached out to grab Sirius by the waist as he moved to walk past, and proceeded to yank the boy onto the couch with him. Sirius yelped.
"What is the purpose of this!" He protested. "We're going to be late to class and if you blame me I will not hesitate to get violent."
Remus laughed as Sirius eventually stopped wriggling, allowing the two boys to settle comfortably on the couch. They were squished next to each other, completely ignoring the rest of the space. Remus shuffled onto his side to look at Sirius, who looked right back.
"I have come to a decision." Remus stated thoughtfully.
Sirius raised an eyebrow. "Oh, yeah? Let's hear it then."
"We, as in you and I, along with James and Lily, are skipping class today." Remus said proudly, squishing his face into the couch and smiling at Sirius.
Sirius gasped, trying to hide a smile attempting to break through. "Remus Lupin! Did you forget about your education! You would dare to neglect it?" He pressed a hand to his chest and dramatically gasped.
"I know, I know. I was very hesitant, but alas, I'm willing to make a sacrifice for your birth anniversary. Let's do whatever you want today before the part, hmm?" Remus suggested. When he was met with silence, he glanced back over to Sirius, who was messing with the hem of Remus' jumper distractedly.
