I woke up and that stupid headache was still there plus it had gotten worse. I'm just glad it's summer and I don't have anywhere to be.
I quickly push yesterday's events out of my mind before ever leaving my bed. There's no point dwelling on what happened.
I push back my covers and slowly stand up stretching my back as I do so.
I look around my room at the countless pictures of me and Kira as well as the different posters of musicians that I like.
Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo are where it's at and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
Although, I do have a weird liking for 80's music too.
My nose crinkles up as I smell bacon coming from the kitchen.
I get dressed in a cute purple t shirt and jean shorts, pulling my hair into a bun as quickly as possible and make my way down for breakfast.
"Nice to see you up so early dear." Jenny said kindly.
"You even beat Kira up this morning.""Wow that's definitely a first." I replied as I piled bacon onto my plate.
I was particularly interested in getting up early today since I planned on going to the bookstore in town this morning.
Nancy's bookstore was a quaint little place that was in the court square of town, it also happened to be my favorite place ever. It was right next to Starbucks too, which only added to my love for it.
Most of my days were spent sipping coffee and reading at her bookstore.
I think most people my age went a couple towns over to find things to do.
Our town, Amberhill, is a wonderful place for retired couples to settle down, but not so much for teenagers that are eager to get into anything and everything.
It has beautiful trees and flowers all over town and many stores suited to older people, but if you want to find a Rue 21 or American Eagle, you're going to have better luck heading to Bellburn, a large city about an hour drive from here.
Thankfully, I'm content with my books and coffee for the most part.
"I think I'm going to head over to Nancy's in a few minutes." I told Jenny as she fixed more bacon.
"Sounds good to me, just be careful."
I started to get up and walk to the door but stopped as she said "Oh wait, I almost forgot! Can you run to Bellburn later this afternoon and pick up some stuff for me from Lowe's?"
I sighed internally, but knew I couldn't refuse her after all she does for me.
"Of course Jen! I'll let you know when I head that way."
"You're the best!" She called as I walked out the door.
Honestly, Bellburn is only going to add to this world shattering headache I have, hopefully it'll go away before I have to make that trip. I guess I could ask Kira to go with me so I at least wouldn't have to drive, but she deserves the extra sleep and I don't want to bug her.
I enter Nancy's bookstore and am immediately enveloped in the smell of lavender. The store has cute yellow walls all lined with bookshelves filled to the very top with every book imaginable. I head for my usual spot on her navy blue couch.
Nancy must have heard me come in because not even five minutes later she is approaching me with her arms piled high with at least seven books.
"I found these the other day and thought you might enjoy them!"
