the Kishin slayer (Death the kid X Reader)

When the boys returned the sun had already been out for a good half hour. You and soul had decided to make food for everyone for when they woke up, the food was mainly hot dogs that you roasted and turkey sandwiches.

"Boys! Did you find anything?" You asked once they returned "yes, we found 2 maps like you asked" Austin spoke up and handed the maps over to you. You opened both maps and circled identical locations on each before handing one back to Austin "I want you two to take this, find this destination and warn them. Please" as you finished your sentence Dustin had already tensed up "(name)" he said dropping the previous formalities him and his brother would go in and out of with you. Sometimes they treated you like the royalty you were but the rest of the time they treated you as a friend they cared deeply about "you know we can't do that, we're sworn to protect you" he finished his sentence "I understand that, but you're also supposed to obey my commands" you retorted while crossing your arms

"She's right Dustin" Austin spoke up while taking another look at the map "besides, this location is only another couple of hours away. We could get there fast warn whoever is there and return to protect our meister" he said, trying to convince his brother to listen. Dustin sighs and nods "Alright we'll go m'lady" he says. They both do a small bow before taking off once again, leaving you and soul alone In silence while the others were still resting.

*in death city*

The kishin that had escaped with your original map returned to the alley he and his companions first saw asura in. He looked around a little confused to see it was empty until he turned around hearing someone speak up "Well, what did you find out? It better be something good considering you didn't bring me the girl" asura's voice was low and threatening. The kishin grins and holds out his deformed hand, showing him the rolled up map "that's all you got" asura growled and the end of his scarf went straight for the kishin and stabbed him through his stomach "w-wait! That's where she's headed!" The kishin spoke quickly. Asura did a crazed smile "I wish you would've told me that beforehand" he said and sliced through the rest of the kishin. Asura walked over to the floating red soul and took it in his hands "Well, I do need my strength" he chuckled before opening his mouth and swallowing the soul completely

*back to you*

Another hour had passed and you and soul were still sitting on the log that was infront of the fire that was now off. You had fallen asleep leaning on soul's shoulder and he didn't move so you could take a nap after the fight you all just went through but he heard some of the others waking up and thought you both should check on everyone to see if you all could continue on the mission "(name), (name)" soul called your name gently while slightly shaking the shoulder you were leaning in "hmm...five more minutes..." you whine and wrap your arms around soul's upper arm and snuggle your face into the sleeve of his jacket. Soul's face had a light dust of pink and he smiled down at you 'so cool' he thought, happy at the physical contact. He shook his head a little realizing it was not the time and shook you a little again "(name), the others are waking up" he said, this time using a normal tone in his voice.

Your eyes shot open and you stood up from the log, you looked from one of the rustling bodies to another before your eyes landed on kid, who had just sat up and was rubbing hid bandaged head. You rush over to kid and tackle him in a hug, making sure not to hurt him even more. His eyes shot wide open and he looked down where you were clinging onto his waist with your face pressed into his chest. He hesitantly put his arms around you with a small smile on his face "are you ok?" He finally spoke up. You pulled away from him, sitting on your knees beside him with a shocked expression "am I ok!? I should be asking you that! You got hurt because of me! Kid I'm I'm so sorry" at this point you started sobbing, you didn't realize how much you were suppressing your feelings for kid until now. Of course you lo-...cared about him but in your mind your parents came first. At least that's how you felt until you saw kid get hurt to protect you.

Tears were flowing down you cheeks as you stared at the ground in front of you before feeling kid pull you back in for another hug "so you do care..." you heard kid mumble in your ear but from how his voice sounded you could tell it was more for him to reassure himself than actually asking you a question.

While you started checking Kid's injuries, soul was checking on Maka who had also woken up "hey, you alright?" He asked her a she sat up "I'm fine soul" she said, not making eye contact with him "you sure?" He asked again, leaning forward a little to get a better look at her face "I just can't believe I got knocked out so easily" she said and crossed her arms "it was a big kishin, I probably would've gotten knocked out too if they had the chance to lay one on me" he was crouching next to maka at this point "We'll do better next time, yeah?" Soul said, handing Maka a water bottle that she took with a small smile "yeah" she replied and stuck out a fist for soul to fist bump, which he glady did while replying "cool"

*hour time skip*

After you and soul checked everyone's injuries and gave them food and water, it turned out the only one badly injured was black*star, who kept refusing while attempting to remove his bandages and saying he was alright but of course tsubaki scolded him. After alot of arguing everyone agreed black*star could continue the mission as long as he kept his bandages on and kept fighting to a minimum if there was another attack.

*during that time*

Austin and Dustin made it to the location on the map to see a castle that was black with accents of gold scattered around the windowsills, statues that were standing out on bricks, the tops of the towers, and the drawbridge was even painted a sparkling gold. The water surrounding the castle was a deep dark black color. "How do we get across?" Austin asked, now back in his human form "we ring the bell I guess" Dustin says "huh?" Austin questioned "the bell dummy" Dustin replies and walks over a small one-person-at-a-time sized bridge with Austin trailing behind him. He reaches up to pull on a rope that had a note attached at the bottom that said 'doorbell'. He pulls the rope and a loud Ding Dong Ding Dong sound rings out.

"Yes?" A male voice comes on a small intercom that the boys hadn't notice before. The boys glance at each other before Austin presses a button next to the speaker to reply "hello sir? I hope we're not disturbing you but uh our lady (name) Akuma shinigami sent us and-" Austin gets cut off by the voice "my (name)? Please do come in!" They heard the voice change from shock to desperate as the drawbridge starts to lower. Once it's down the boys go back the way they came on the small bridge to get to the start of drawbridge and walk across it.

Once they are inside the walls of the courtyard part of the castle the drawbridge goes back up and closes behind them. They start to walk towards what you could easily tell is the front door. Once they're a few feet from it, the door opens revealing a tall figure in a reaper cloak that covers his whole body and the hood casts a shadow over his face. The figure pulls down the hood to reveal a mask similar to Lord death's but not as comical looking, the shape was more defined like a skulls instead of just being round like lord death's

The boys stop in their tracks and their eyes widen at the figures next words "boys, it's you! But...Where's your sister?"
