You could say Jungkook got used to the sleepless nights rather quickly.
Even back when he was alive, his sleeping schedule wasn't the most ideal. Insomnia would steal a great deal of rest from him. And after he turned, he didn't have much time to think about how tired he was. When he lived on the streets, the most important thing was to hide from others, to find the darkest corner of Seoul and amalgamate with it. Despite being the hunter, he couldn't help but feel like the prey as well, and so his life became a never-ending cycle of hunt—hide—wait, hunt—hide—wait.
Until it, once again, changed.
Now, he doesn't need to be startled by the shadows of the trees in the park, which looked like they were reaching out their malapert branches towards him, just like some pairs of hands that aimed to attack him. He doesn't have to look for ways to get rid of the blood that would leave stains on his clothes. He doesn't have to restrain himself from jumping on an innocent passer-by.
No, right now he has the luxury of a warm bed and — newly — a laptop.
He had never owned one, and he still doesn't clearly understand how he got it. He just asked Jin if there was a possibility for him to watch something during the night, since reading books so often started to slowly be the cause of a very bad reading block.
The next thing he knew, Jin texted Namjoon, who later came home with a brand new gadget.
To say he cried like a new-born baby is an understatement. And when he thinks about it backwards, it's also a slight embarrassment. He could have had any other reaction — but still his brain decided that the best possible option was to cry. Which made Jimin, who hugged him without a second thought after seeing the tears rolling down his cheeks, cry as well.
Just great.
Anyway, that's how he ended up curled under the blanket, his knees brought to his chest, headphones on, laptop by his side, with a very romantic TV show on. It was an old one, which he used to watch with his mum every evening. They would usually have crisps or ice-cream, or a lot of snacks that could be eaten throughout the forty minutes long episodes. They would comment on the poor decisions of the characters, cheer for them, sob with them...
Even now, Jungkook watches it while holding his breath. However, when one of his favourite scenes is supposed to come up, a slight knock on the door can be heard. He stops the episode and hums, knowing that the one on the other side of the door will hear it.
As the door opens, blond curls and a boxy smile appear. "May I come in?"
Jungkook can't help but smile, nodding. Taehyung closes the door behind himself and jumps on the bed next to him. "Whatcha doing?" he asks.
"Just... a TV show."
"Oh... if I'm interrupting, I can come some other time." Taehyung says, sitting down.
"No, you are not." Jungkook shakes his head and closes the laptop. "I just... didn't know you would come tonight."
Taehyung pouts. "Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I really wanted to come over here every night, but school decided it's going to kick my butt. There's so many projects and tests and honestly, I just want a holiday. Jimin is trying to tutor me in some of the subjects, but I really hate some of them. He wanted to teach me tonight as well, but, unfortunately, he fell asleep," he blinks at Jungkook when he says the last sentence, and the younger giggles.
"Jin-hyung told me you both work very hard. You spent two nights in the library, right?"
"Yeah, we had a biology test. Pretty hard one... you should have seen the worried face of one of the librarians that remembered us. He must have thought we were severely sleep deprived... humans are adorable," Taehyung smirks, tilting his head as he puts his hands behind himself and leans on them. He breathes in the fresh rainy air that's coming to the room through the open window, and the dark beam of the moon illuminates the sharp features of his face, the curve of his lips, the half-closed eyes...
