It took time for everyone to calm down after the series of incidents which took place that night. The three youngest found it the most difficult to process everything that has happened within the last few hours.
Jimin, who has gone through having his leg broken to having it healed within seconds, fell into shock and the exhaustion made him pass out almost immediately after Hoseok had given his very brief explanation of the situation. Taehyung shut himself down and found it all hard to comprehend. He stopped crying, sat down on the corner of his and Jimin's bed and looked at nothing in particular. Only after Namjoon made him lie down did he curl up next to Jimin and hugged the older blond, but whether he was seeking safety or trying to provide it to the other was impossible to guess.
And Jungkook...
He didn't really understand how he managed to do what he had done. Even after Hoseok named what he was, he didn't want to believe it. It seemed impossible, but he had no power to say anything against it—he tried, but almost no words came out. His throat hurt from all the sobbing and screaming, and so they encouraged him to stay quiet. They could talk about it later, but what he needed the most right now was peace.
Jin and Yoongi took him to the bathroom and made sure they cleaned his blood-stained face. Then they made him take a shower and helped him get into some clean clothes which weren't soaked in tears and sweat. Once he was done, they helped him get to his room, where he collapsed on the bed immediately.
Hoseok and Yoongi wanted to stay beside him, but Jin urged them to go and have some rest. The night has drained them as well, and so they should get enough sleep. He knew that Hoseok wouldn't be able to fall asleep next to Jungkook, though, because he would still feel the need to check up on him, and he definitely couldn't fall asleep without Yoongi. During situations like this, he needed the grey haired boy beside him.
After they agreed, Jin covered the windows as much as possible, so the first sun rays wouldn't creep into the bedroom. He didn't want them to bother the young boy. All that time, Jungkook stayed silently hidden under the bedsheets.
"Can I join you?" he asks once he is done with the windows, and Jungkook nods without really looking at him. Jin slips under the covers, and he makes sure to stay far enough to not make the boy uncomfortable. Jungkook peeks at him, his eyes still bloody-looking. Jin gives him a reassuring smile and winks at him.
This causes Jungkook to blush and hide his face almost entirely under the covers.
"How are you feeling?" Jin asks quietly.
Jungkook blinks a few times and gulps before answering. "Um... been better."
"Tired?"
"More than ever."
"Close your eyes, then. Even if you don't fall asleep, you can still rest them a bit at least."
Jungkook thinks about it, but he is so exhausted that it doesn't take him long enough to question it. He does as he is told and sighs.
Jin gets an idea, but he hesitates before voicing it. "You know... when I was little and couldn't fall asleep, my mum would stroke my hair."
Jungkook's voice is filled with sadness when he answers. "My mum used to do that, too."
"Did she?"
"Hm..."
"Would it be okay if I did that, too?" Jin momentarily regrets the question when he sees the tears making their way down Jungkook's cheeks again. Surprisingly, the boy nods quietly and Jin scoops closer before he changes his mind.
He buries his fingers in the boys dark hair which are still a bit damp from the shower. He massages his skull and occasionally slides his fingers through his hair, brushing them in a way. Jungkook relaxes under his touch and hums quietly.
