He felt so safe. He felt so wanted. It was special. It made his heart warm and fuzzy.

Her arms wrapped around his weak body... Her head buried in his fluffy hair... Her steady heartbeat... He wouldn't change it for the world.

It's like all his pain had gone away while he was with her. She was his biggest weakness but also his greatest strength. There was nowhere else he wanted to be.

He was enjoying his well earned rest. Well that was until his body decided it was pain time. His chest became tight and sharp again, hitching his breaths. Awakening quickly, he sat up and placed a hand on his chest, closed his eyes tight, and attempted to steady his breathing. Nya woke up too, concern on her face.

"Are you okay?" She frowned, "Is it your chest?"

He managed to nod a little, letting out harsh breaths every now and then.

Nya sat up properly and reached over, grabbing the sleeve of medication and glass of water from off the table. She handed him the water and took out one of the pills.

"Are you able to drink?" She wondered, gently placing a hand on his shoulder.

Jay took a few moments before shaking his head. A tear silently fell down his cheek. Nya gently wiped it away and rubbed circles on his back, hoping to calm him slightly.

"It's gonna be okay," She spoke softly, "I promise."

After a few minutes, Jay removed his hand from his chest and managed to steady his breathing as the pain died down. He took the pill from his yang and drank it carefully, just able to swallow it before coughing.

"Drink some more water, it might help," She told him.

He felt a little better afterwards and went back to sleep, hugged my his yang again. She wouldn't leave his side until he was better. She needed to be there for him now more than ever.

Just when he thought things were getting better, the pain returned, but not only in his chest, but everywhere else too, especially his burns. His head hurt like hell and he had to stop himself from screaming. He twisted around in the bed, clutching his stomach and letting the tears fall. Nya was still fast asleep. The last thing Jay wanted to do was bother her but the pain was too much for him to handle, he needed her help.

"N-Nya," He cried, shaking her slightly.

She frowned and groaned, still half asleep.

"Nya," He begged, "Nya, it hurts-"

Her eyes fluttered open and she pushed herself up onto her arm, glancing down at him in pain.

"Are you okay? What hurts? Is it your chest again?" She asked.

He shook his head, "E-Everything.."

"How bad? Bad as in I need to call the doctor or-" She began.

He nodded quickly which made Nya jump out of the bed. She wandered out of the room, hating herself for leaving him on his own whilst he was in pain. As soon as she left, Jay managed to sit up and reach for the sleeve of medicine. He couldn't handle this pain anymore. The one pill he took earlier wasn't working, which meant he needed more. He grabbed four and drank them quickly, hoping they'd work this time.

He sat against the bed frame, clutching his stomach even tighter and crying louder. He never thought he'd be in any worse pain than what he went through in the alternate timeline. Was all this pain really worth anything?

Cole rushed into the room to see what was going on, seeing Jay lift one of his hands to his head. The earth ninja walked over to the bed and sat down beside his best friend, concern on his face.
