(jk its not over lol) (its been 3 years since i wrote this story)

"Jay, you are literally the most important person to me. I wouldn't be here without you. You are the ray of sunshine I've always needed. Y'know I always used to think I was fine on my own and that I didn't need anyone but I do. I need you . I know I've always misjudged you and..you deserve better but I'm not letting anyone else have you."

Jay's eyes began to fill with tears again, "I-"

"Let me finish," she smiled, "you are smart, funny, talented, strong, brave, adorable, and just all-around a great guy and I cannot imagine spending my future with anyone else. And that's why I need to ask you this.."

Tears began to fall down Jay's cheeks as he covered his mouth. Nya giggled a little as she took yet another deep breath.

"Jay Walker, will you marry me?"

She sighed, placing the wedding magazine back down on the counter. Her hair was tied back in a loose ponytail, she hadn't yet quite woken up properly, her makeup slightly smudged from yesterday, and her head was placed in her hand. A warm cup of coffee sat down in front of her, steam rolling off the mug.

It'd felt so long ago since she'd proposed, although months passing without your yin really felt like an eternity. Being left all alone was the most heart-aching experience ever, and even though she was spending plenty of time with her brother, the lover shaped hole in her heart could never seem to be filled. Not even many, many tubs of his favourite flavour of ice cream helped.

Flicking through these magazines for the past few months really seemed to be the only thing that kept her somewhat grounded. Sure, it hurt to know they weren't getting married, but that lingering feeling of hope still remained in her chest. She was so excited.

"You need to stop looking at those magazines," her brother spoke from across the table, "they're only going to make you miserable."

She shot him a glare and shook her head, "they're not making me miserable . It's just nice to look through them."

"To see what you can't have? Sure," Kai went to reach for it, but her free hand slapped on top of it, guarding it from the master of fire.

"You'll get another chance to get married, you know that, right?" he told her reassuringly.

"I don't really want to think about that right now."

"Yet you're flicking through wedding magazines."

"Mind your damn business, Kai."

"Sorry," he waved his hands up to surrender, "I'm just trying to help. It's been months."

"You think it'll only take me months to get over?" she raised an eyebrow.

"It's really not that big of a deal."

"That's not very ' supportive big brother ' of you."

Kai chuckled, "look, I just think you're being a bit dramatic. I know you were excited for it, but you weren't even in the planning stages or anything yet. You still have plenty of years to get married, Nya. It's not like you're dying any time soon."

"Wow, Kai, that's really insensitive of you," she shot him another glare.

He shrugged, "you know I'm right."

The master of water let out another sigh before sliding down off her stool. Heading towards the cupboard behind Kai, she flicked the kettle on. She pulled out a blue mug and a tea bag to place in it. Kai grabbed the tin of sugar for her.

"At least things are on the way to getting better, right?" Kai told her with a smile, "you've been a lot happier recently."

"See? My happiness has nothing to do with the magazine."

He rolled his eyes, "just drop the magazine already."

"Fine," she responded defeatedly, "but I'm not throwing it away."

"Mhm."

Kai's attention drifted from his sister to the person making their way into the room. He stood in the doorway for a brief moment, rubbing his eyes and adjusting to the lighting change.
