Weeks passed and a lot changed over those days. Jay became weaker, the team became more worried, and it seemed as if time was getting shorter. They all knew that it was only a matter of time until Jay was gone, so they made the most of it whilst they could.

Nya was the only one that didn't leave his side, except for when the doctors needed to do tests. He hadn't stopped suffering. The pain got worse and worse until he felt as if it was the end pretty much every day. But when he was finally told that it was his last day, he didn't know how to process it. His heart was slowing down and his head was becoming lighter and it frightened him. He didn't want to leave, especially not his love.

He didn't have much of a choice though.

Nya sat by his side, on the floor, holding his hand tightly as Dr Harvey sat across the room, watching as Nya cried.

"You have no idea how much I'm going to miss you," she sniffled.

"I'm so sorry I have to leave," Jay replied weakly.

"It's not your fault, it's mine. If I hadn't-"

"Please don't start blaming yourself," Jay sighed, "Recharging the battery was my decision, and you told me not to. I was the idiot that didn't listen. Please, just promise me one thing."

"What?"

"That you'll move on and find someone else that can provide you with just as much love and appreciation and more," he told her quietly, "You deserve so much."

"No, no I will never move on from you, ever. I can never be with someone else," Nya told him sort of harshly, "You're the only one I'll ever love."

Jay smiled, "I know..."

"Guys... there's a few minutes.." Dr Harvey spoke up a little, trying not to interrupt their conversation, "It's time to say goodbyes.."

Nya sighed, took a deep breath and glanced at her love as the grip around her hand loosened slightly. She sat up properly and leaned over the bed, gently laying her head on his shoulder.

"I love you so much," She cried, "You've been so brave and I'm so sorry we couldn't save you. You deserve so much better than what this life has given you. And I know I didn't show it enough but I am so grateful to have had you in my life and that you've always been there for me. You are the nicest, sweetest, most caring person on this planet and I love you more than you could ever know.

"You've shown me as much as I've deserved, Nya, thank you for always being here. I need you to stay strong for me when you're gone okay? You're so incredible, don't let anyone tell you otherwise," Jay smiled weakly.

Nya began to cry again, wrapping her arms around him. He put his hands around her waist, burying his head in the nook between her shoulder and her neck. Tears silently fell from his pained eyes, wetting her shirt. He could feel his breath getting shorter and his heart slowing down. He hated every moment of it but having the love of his life in his arms made it all better.

"I'm so proud of you and everything you've done," Nya told him quietly, "You've been through more than I could ever list, especially in the alternate timeline, and you've handled it like a complete boss. You should be so proud of yourself."

"And you should be proud of yourself too," Jay told her, struggling to get his words out, "You've overcome all that's been thrown at you, especially about the media. You proved to everyone that the girl ninja is much stronger than anyone else. Don't let this stop you."

"I'm gonna miss you so much," she cried, hugging him tighter.

"I'm gonna miss you more," he smiled weakly.

She attempted to dry her tears and moved her head a little so that she could kiss his cheek. Feeling him for the last time was so painful yet so heartwarming. To be with him in his final minutes felt special, it made her feel complete. Jay's future reflection had told him they'd be together until the day they died and they were, it just happened much sooner than they planned. But without him, she wouldn't be there today.

Lifting her head up, she glanced straight into his bright blue eyes. She needed to see them again before they closed forever.

"We're saving a girl? Is she hot?"

"Jay..."

"I-I just wanna know what we're getting ourselves into. Does she like blue?"

"Back off."

Nya smiled a little. The first time they met, she'd taken it for granted. The first thing she spotted about him was his bright smile and blue eyes. They were so warm and welcoming. Ever since then, she'd fallen hard for the jokester. But she was always the one thing he took serious. To have him in her life, she felt like the luckiest girl on the planet.

"Jay..." she murmured, "Do you.. like blue?"

He smiled faintly, "I-It's my... favourite.. colour..."
