Virgil squeezed his hands into fists tightly as the carriage stopped. That morning, they had finally arrived across the sea. They were visiting another kingdom, Andreas, to make preparations to avoid war.

The opposing kingdoms have never had great ally ship, but it wouldn't be wise to go up against Andreas. They were far more powerful than Deimos. If Virgil was correct, they were going to make plans to join the two kingdoms. Presumably with a marriage, though it wouldn't be for several decades from now.

The king of Andreas had two sons and a daughter. The daughter was only two, and Virgil's younger brother, Derrek, was three. Virgil himself was five, and the youngest, Malcolm, was one.

Derrek and Malcolm were left in Deimos, too young to travel across seas. But Virgil had to stay by his father since he's going to be king. He had to start his training as soon as possible, even if his father was hard on him.

The ride across wasn't bad though, especially at night when Virgil was able to sneak away from his room. The sea was beautiful, the moon and the stars were shining, and the captain was friendly.

The captain always smiled and showed Virgil around whenever he was alone. It was just what the prince needed to calm down every night, his father was just so suffocating.

And he's currently sitting in front of him. The carriage door opened, and Virgil heard their names be called out in introduction. His mother took his hand and the three of them stood up, making their way out of the carriage.

As Virgil stepped out of the carriage, his mother let go of his hand and they made their way to the steps of the castle. Waiting there was the royal family of Andreas. The king and queen of Andreas, the queen was holding their daughter Princess Lily. Next to them stood their twin sons, Prince Roman and Prince Remus.

The boys smiled at Virgil, one even waved at him, though he couldn't tell which one he was. Still, the young prince's face remained neutral, even as they reached them.

"Welcome to our land," the king greeted. "We hope your stay will be a joyous one."

Virgil patiently sat on the bed in his room. As soon as they arrived, their things were unloaded and brought to the two rooms they will be staying in. Then both kings and queens went into a conference room together to talk. Virgil wasn't allowed in, so he was told to stay out of trouble.

And he will stay out of trouble. He was still healing from the last time he stepped out of line, he made his father furious. Of course, he deserved it, right? Ten lashing, right on his back for speaking out of turn.

It was about a witch, it was discovered the stable boy was a witch. His father had him executed, and Virgil told him that it was unfair since he never did anything wrong.

He shouldn't have tried to defend the witch, obviously. The future king cannot think like that. If it wasn't for his mother pleading for them to go easy on him, he would have received 20 lashes.

It was alright though, he will live. The lashes will heal, he'll have scars but he will live. As long as he doesn't step out of line again.

Virgil blinked when he heard a knock on the door, he had been staring into space again.

"Come in," he answered, hoping that was the right thing to do.

The door opened and the two twins popped in, both having huge smiles on their faces.

"You're Prince Virgil, right?" one asked. "I'm Roman!"

"And I'm Remus," the other said.

"Greetings, what brings you here?" Virgil couldn't help but smile, he doesn't often get to talk to anyone his age. Actually, he doesn't think he has before.
