AS I DO THE WALK OF SHAME UP MY PORCH, I MAKE A MENTAL NOTE TO NEVER CRASH AT THE HOUSE OF PERSON'S I JUST SLEPT WITH ON A SCHOOL NIGHT AGAIN.

Miles offered to drive me to school, but I told him it would be too suspicious. That, and I didn't want to go to school looking, well, like I just got laid. So I opted to show up late. However, he did give me a ride home.

My aunt and uncle are awake when I get home, and when they see me in my post-sex glory, with my hair a complete mess and my hoodie's tragic attempt at hiding my hickeys, they smiled at me and said, "Good morning, honey. We see that you had fun last night. We hope you used protection."

I started the shower and as I waited for it to get hot, I put my phone on the charger because it was currently on three percent. I see that Cassidy texted me a minute prior.

Cassidy
did you oversleep???????? school started at EIGHT! it's EIGHT FIFTY FIVE!

To: Cassidy
yeah i overslept, i'll be there before third period

As I pressed send on my text to Cassidy, I remembered that I texted Rhiannon at some point during the night, and begrudgingly checked the thread to see that instead of responding, she just read my message soon after I sent it. I don't know what it is about the women I pine for, but they sure did have a habit of picking and choosing when they wanted to be bothered with me.

I debated on if I should have responded with something petty like, "thanks for the response" or "great talk", but I wasn't too upset about it. Besides the one off hook up we had when I went back to Jersey, and the possible feelings that would have brought back, I had enough on my plate with Lyla, and now Miles. Or maybe just Miles; Lyla made her thoughts pretty clear on the subject of "us".

So I dropped the phone on my bed and went to the bathroom.

I wore a turtleneck. The only one in my posession. I usually saved it for cold winter days, but thanks to a few certain places on my neck, places I'd rather not be questioned about, I had to wear it. And Miles thought it was fucking hilarious.

During lunch, while Cassidy walked away to get something else from the line, I used this as an opportunity to make a few things clear.

"Okay, about last night," I looked to make sure that Cassidy was far away, and that the coast was clear. "We never mention this to Cass, and no feelings evolve from it, got it?"

I harbored no romantic feelings for Miles whatsoever, and last night was the result of hurt feelings, rejection, alcohol, and his attractive face. And if this was going to be more than a one off night, and instead became a more frequent thing, I had to set a few rules.

He nodded slowly. "I got it, Evan. It stays between us and it's only physical, nothing more. But I don't think she'll care that we fu—"

By now, Cassidy was on her way back to the table and she sat down in her seat next to Miles.

"We're all free tonight, right?" She asked as she pulled her phone out of her pocket and looked at something on her screen.

"I'm working tonight." I said with a sigh. "And the night after that, and the night after that."

She rolled her eyes at my schedule. "I sure hope they pay you enough with how much they work you."

"Trust me, they don't." I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes as I mentally prepared myself for tonight. I had the same shift at Lyla, and the last thing I needed was seeing her face after yesterday. I also hadn't talked to her since then, either.
