ON THE FIRST DAY, I GET UP AT SIX THIRTY FIVE IN THE MORNING, SHOWER, AND MAKE MYSELF PRESENTABLE. I then proceed to gather my supply of notebooks and pens that were strewn across my desk that were supposed to be organized and labeled by now, but didn't happen.
I grab my book bag and walk downstairs to the kitchen to see Aunt Jane making breakfast and Uncle Peter tying the tie of his suit. He sees me enter, and a smile plasters on his face.
"Good morning, Evanna." His voice a little too perky for the hour it is.
"Morning." I mutter. "And... just... Evan, please."
He nods, understanding my distaste for my full name, then settles. "Evan."
Aunt Jane sees me next, and it's her turn to greet me. "Morning, honey. Do you want breakfast?"
I shake my head. "Nah, just wanted to say bye before I leave."
"Do you want a ride?" She asks.
"No, thanks. I'm good." I say.
She shrugs. "Well, alright. If you need any help with the registration, just call me, okay?"
To this, I nod, and they bid me farewell and wish me luck on my first day, and I mentally prepare myself for the next nine months of me trying to survive.

I like to pride myself on the fact that I've got a decent enough grab on New York to travel alone, and have for quite some time now. (Though this mostly attribute this to an app I downloaded) However, the thing the app failed to include were the ill-mannered cretins that were New York citizens. Now, New Jersey wasn't a cakewalk either, but New York was a new beast entirely. Ten minutes into my voyage, I've been shoved twice, and shared a few choice words with some middle aged guy whose temper can be credited to his premature balding and blue-collar job.
Nonetheless, I make it to Central Valley High School unscathed and only mildly heated. The walk wasn't too bad, but making it everyday for weeks on end will probably take a few years off of my life if I don't start getting in shape.
Before I start heading inside with the vast sea of people to start my day, I quickly search through my contact list in my phone for Luca's number and press the phone button next to his mobile number. As it's ringing, I shake my nerves with one of the three cigarettes I hid in my sock before leaving out this morning.
"Don't tell me the new school has you in the dumps already." Luca's voice floods my ears, which provides immense comfort.
"I haven't even made it out of the parking lot, and I already want to go home." I mutter.
"Shoulda thought about that before you decided to finger some girl while your parents were home." He says bluntly, which results in me rolling my eyes.
