Part 28

Betty POV

Jughead picked me up the next morning as he promised but when I got in the car he didn't pay much mind to me. It was a silence, not comfortable but not necessarily uncomfortable. When we got to school he only talked to me in the cafeteria and as soon as he noticed some people looking at us he put on an angry face and loudly said J-"what the hell do you want Betty?" B-"jug, what?" I asked confused as it had nothing to do with the light conversation we were having. J-"I'm sick of your shit." He said quite loudly before storming off away from me.

C-"oh girlie what was that?" Cheryl asked coming up from behind me. B-"oh uh...I was pushing his buttons." I said trying to sound like I definitely hated him. C-"pushing his buttons? Didn't you guys fuck like two days ago?" B-"what? No! I don't understand why you and Veronica think that?" C-"we've seen the way you two look at each other. Full lust." She exaggerated and nudged my arm. B-"you're delusional." I sighed before walking away from her.

Jughead grabbed my arm lightly at the end of the day and pulled me out to his car. He opened the door and I silently got into the car. He drove to my house and I got out without saying a word. I walked into the house to hear my mom and Hermione whisper yelling. A-"why would you not tell me this!" H-"I was protecting you!" I made my way to where they were and when they saw me they both put a smile on their faces. A-"hi honey! How was school?" B-"fine..." I said suspiciously. B-"what was that conversation you two were just having about?"

There was a short silence until my mom broke into tears. A-"Shes been keeping secrets from me!" She wailed, which made me look at her with a 'I know you're cheating' look. H-"it was only so I could make sure it was real." B-"what was real?" I asked Hermione. H-"I've been receiving some threats, but I didn't know if they were serious until today." She stated calmly. H-"I was emailed many photos of you and Veronica around town, that's when I knew we were all being followed." I tried to keep a calm front on but in reality I was terrified. I was being followed which could mean that there's pictures of me and Jughead.

H-"I promise that I'll keep you all safe and I'll handle everything." B-"I'll help you, our family is in danger, I wanna help." Hermione thought for a second before sighing and nodding her head. H-"fine, I'll let you know when i need you." I gave a toothless smile, and then walked into my room. I placed my backpack on the floor next to my desk and sat down, grabbing the books I needed out from the bag, and started doing my homework.

I was about halfway done with my homework when my phone buzzed, face down on the desk. I didn't check it and kept on working. A few minutes later another buzz came in, but again I thought it was just Instagram notifications. As my thoughts went back to the task at hand my phone rang. I picked it up, without checking the caller ID. B-"hello?" I asked annoyed. J-"come on, I'm outside. We need to talk." Jughead stated before hanging up.
