~ SURPRISE ~

*LOUIS' POV*

Just as I sit down at the top-most seat in the stadium, I take a sigh of relief. Harry's crew is fucking everywhere and I know for a fact that he is on good terms with all of his crew-mates. It would have totally ruined my surprise if any of them saw me, because it'd definitely reach Harry within the next minute.

I smile proudly as I look down at him and Kacey rehearsing their cover tonight. I don't mind saying that I may even have shed a tear or two during the same. How could I not? I mean, it's our song, after all. It always reminds me of just how far we've come and just how many obstacles we've survived.

The X Factor shooting has been extremely busy but I can't deny the fact that even with Simon Cowell sitting right next to me the whole season, I am having the time of my life mentoring some of the biggest upcoming artists in the industry and I am absolutely honoured to be a part of their journey; and of course, there is the added perk of getting to tease and piss Simon off any chance I get.

Even so, the pain of not being with Harry trumps every other card in the deck, and that's why I decided to show up tonight without his knowledge. I talked to a few of his crew-members who know about us and our relationship; and they helped me with getting in during Harry's rehearsals and before the fans started coming in.

As his performance comes to an end, I see him walking down the stage and sitting down on one of the audience seats. I take this as an opportunity and face-time him; making sure my phone's at an angle where he won't be able to tell that I'm sitting in the same stadium as he is.

Harry, as usual, picks up immediately and the wide grin on his face is displayed on my screen, making my heart beat faster at the thought that I am the reason to his beautiful smile.

Eight years and still not used to it, I muse to myself and laugh.

"Hi, Lou!"

"Hello, beautiful. What are you up to?"

"Just finished mic check and final rehearsals with Kacey. She's got some seriously good vocals, babe. I wish you were here to hear us sing tonight." I move my phone in a way that would indicate that I am doing some work, and he frowns when he isn't able to see me. "What are you doing?"

"Just a sec, babe." I say and finally stop moving my phone, holding it up at arm's length so that he can see me, sitting in partial darkness. "Yes, sorry, love. What were you telling me?"

I say with a lazy smile on my face.

"Where are you?"

"Where am I?" I say, building up some kind of silly suspense as I stand up and lean against the railing of the VIP box. "I'm out to see a show of an old friend."

"Oh."

He's jealous, I think to myself and laugh at his expense.

He raises an eyebrow suspiciously.

"What friend, Lou?"

"Oh, wait, I'll show you." I say while barely controlling my laughter as I flip the camera to show the stadium and then come to a stop at his tiny figure sitting on a chair in the audience. "That's the friend, by the way."

I see as is face morphs from shock, to confusion as he looks around the stadium and then happiness as he looks back at his phone to face me.

"Lou, you're here?!"

"Nah, just my ghost, babe."

He rolls his eyes at the obvious song reference and I laugh before hanging up the call.

"OII!" I shout at the top of my lungs from the VIP box and his head snaps to my voice faster than ever. He smile widens into a grin when he spots me and I wave.

"I'm getting a Déjà vu." He says, already walking towards main gate and I start to walk out of the box to finally greet my husband.

We meet halfway and he kisses me as our bodies collide against each other.

"Hello, there."

"Hiii." He says and grins like a little child, making me laugh. I pull away from him a little and inspect his outfit.

"You look amazing, babe." The blue suit fits his broad shoulders perfectly, the matching trousers fitting him wonderfully, and his hair looking perfect as always. Everything about this man seems to be summed up in the word 'perfect'.

I hear footsteps approaching us and I peer over Harry's shoulders to find Kacey coming our way.

"Am I interrupting?" she says with a delightful smile on my face and I shake my head in denial.

"Never." I hug her and then inspect her outfit as well. "How are you, darling? You look wonderful."

"I'm fine, Louis. Thanks a lot. Besides, since we don't have a rainbow bear here, I thought I'd become the rainbow." She says and laughs as I shake my head.

The rainbow bear was such a fun conspiracy. I had so much fun watching the fans scouring every single show and finding the rainbow bear and going crazy on the internet about it. But, I guess I under-estimated their abilities because they soon enough figured out it was me behind the whole saga and the 'Larries' as they like to call themselves, went absolutely bonkers with the information.

"You're gonna stay for the whole show, right?" harry says as I pull myself out of the memories of the past.

"Of course I am, love."

He grins once again and kisses me, before we part ways as the crew tells us that the fans are going to start to filter in soon enough.

I walk back to the VIP box and stay in the shadows for the whole show, watching as the crowd goes mad after every song and watching as he looks up at me during Sweet Creature and If I Could Fly with a hint of tears in his eyes.

I watch as some of the fans look back and forth between me and Harry. I guess they can figure out it's me sitting in the box because of the faint light behind me, but I make no moves to hide away. I just keep my eyes on Harry as he sings to me and the memories of the last eight years together fill my mind, pulling me in with every new memory; and I pray to God that I am able to someday love this man openly and freely without any sort of restrictions.

That's all I want in life.

To love and live freely, for once.
