Shadowhunter Academy 1899

Today was the first day of school at the Shadowhunter Academy. To say Millie was nervous was an understatement. Millie and her twin brother, Matthew, had been dropped off by their older brother, Charles. With the academy being in Idris, where the twins lived, they were taken by carriage. Their mother, being the consul, and their father, having been injured from The Clockwork War, were not able to accompany them to the academy. This left their older brother to escort them. Millie wasn't the closest to her older brother, as he was never around the twins much. He was with their mother majority of the time and not to mention the 7 year age gap. She didn't mind him, but he seemed to have been annoyed that he had to drop the twins off.

Millie thought about this as her and Matthew got out of the carriage, collected their luggage, and said their goodbyes. The two had never done anything to the older boy that she could recall.

Unless our birth was enough to piss him off. She thought to herself while rolling her eyes. Matthew grabbed her hand and pulled her to where the rest of the students were socializing outside of the academy. She sighed. She was grateful to have her brother with her on a day as nerve-racking as this. She was no where near shy, but having him by her side made her feel all the better.

He continued to pull her towards two boys, who she immediately recognized. One who would visit their home in both Idris and London quite frequently for their lab and the other she didn't see as much but remembered his kindness.

The one who visited their lab frequently was a boy with messy brown hair and glasses atop his face. He was the son of Uncle Gabriel and Aunt Cecily, who were not actually blood-related to the Fairchild's. They referred to them as Aunt and Uncle because of how close their parents were. He was tall for a thirteen-year-old she noticed, much taller than her and Matthew.

He was especially taller than the boy standing beside him, who was quite thin and short for his age. He was supposedly a year older than the three, but you wouldn't think that from first glance. He was the son of Uncle Gideon and Aunt Sophie, who once again were not blood related, but close to the twin's family.

Uncle Gabriel and Aunt Cecily had been spending more time in Idris for the past few years, so she knew Christopher more than Thomas. They were considered her and Matthew's cousins, though not by blood, so she was very excited to get to know them more.

She began smiling to herself until she noticed Matthew ran into a boy with dark hair and proceeded to make her run into him as well.

"Sorry!" She yelped not being able to stop as Matthew was practically dragging her by the arm to the two boys without having noticed they had both ran into someone.

"Hullo, boys," Matthew pronounced as he finally let go of the death grip he had on Millie's arm. Millie rolled her eyes and whacked him on the arm.

He winced dramatically touching his arm as if wounded. "By the Angel Millie, what was that for? I have not said anything except for saying Hullo to our two nice friends unlike you."
