You're a poison and I know that is the truth
All my friends think you're vicious
And they say you're suspicious
You keep dreaming
and dark scheming
Yeah, you do-----------------------------------------------
I hurried towards the brown-haired guy across the hall, ignoring the looks I got from the people I passed. He had a tray in front of him, filled with pancakes, fruits and cereal, along with a tall glass filled to the brim with orange juice.
'I'm so glad to see you!' He stood up and embraced me in a firm hug. I just stood there, dumbfounded by the sight of my former classmate. A classmate I actually never properly talked to in school, who was now hugging me.
'They told me you were already here but they didn't want me to visit you until you came down from the shock. I was in there for three days you know, I just got out.' He sat down and grabbed another pancake, which he stuffed in his mouth. 'Sit down, sit down.' He said, voice muffled by the pancake.I sat down and stared at him in disbelief. I totally forgot about Ayden, my mind too occupied with my own crisis, but it made sense he was here too. Ayden seemed alright, smiling at the other people at his table and introducing me.
'Guys, this is Louis. He was in my History class at the Bull-shit school.' Three people nodded at me with smiles. There was a woman in, I guessed her 30's, with long box-braids, a blonde girl about my age and a timid small boy. I estimated his age at about twelve.
'Hi, I'm Velah.' The older woman shook my hand to make acquaintance. 'This is Lori..' She nodded at the girl, '...and the shy one here is Mace.'
Mace briefly looked at me and then focussed his attention back on the bowl of cereal in front of him.
'I understand this must all be very overwhelming am I right?' Velah gave me a kind smile and studied my face. I nodded slowly. Her gaze flitted to my throat but luckily she focussed right back on my face again. She hurried up. 'I'll get you some food. Just sit. I'm glad you know someone already.' She stormed off and three sets of eyes were now examining me.'How are you?' Ayden asked, chewing on his food.
It was a loaded question. I shrugged.
'Fine? I guess? I don't know.'
'Understandable.' The girl whose name I learned was Lori, gave me a nervous look. 'I think I trashed that place twice when I was in there.'
'So you've all been in that room?' I asked, and Lori huffed.
'Yeah, except for little Mace here...' She ruffled the boy's hair but got slapped away. 'He's kind of royalty, aren't you?'
Mace just shrugged without looking up.
'Simon, his father, is a member, so he's been living here since the beginning.' She explained, poking the now very annoyed boy in his sides.'Leave Mace alone will ya?' Velah came up from behind me, carrying a tray filled with toast, eggs and bacon. 'I didn't know what you liked, so I grabbed this. I figured everyone likes the classic breakfast, right?' She put the tray in front of me and handed me some cutlery.
'Thanks.'
Honestly, the food looked great and my stomach was aching to get some food in.'So...,' she looked at me when I took my first bite. The eggs were exquisite, and happily, I shovelled some more in my face. '...The first day back in gen-pop can be hard, but I want you to know you are safe here, and we will cater to you if you need anything, alright?'
'Gen-pop?' I raised my eyebrows.
'Oh yeah,' she laughed a little, 'General population...an inside joke we use. I mean the general areas where everyone lives and works. Harry will give you a tour when you're finished with your breakfast.''Thank you.' I said between bites. 'Niall told me about that...' I was still wary about the kindness everyone showed me. These were supposed to be killers right?
