As soon as we entered the palace, we were met with a flurry of people. Men and women alike flocked to great my father.

Jubilantly, he greeted them all. Like the attention whore he was, he soaked up all the we missed you's and the oh you look as good as the day you left and blah blah blah. I stood in the background with arms crossed, watching all this unfold. A gaggle of women flung themselves onto my father and peppered him with kisses. And there he was, just basking in the attention and affection.

"Excuse me," I said, trying to regain his attention but to no avail. He continued to joke and catch up with all of these people. He even stood doing pathetic little magic tricks for them. My heart began to beat faster as I began to get angry. What kind of egotistical maniac is he? Moments ago he had acted as my doting Father, comforting me and assuring me everything was alright. Now here he was, acting as though I was chopped liver compared to all his palace buddies.

I began to panic. Had I made the right decision? Here I was, in a strange land with no ally, no friend, other than my Father who as of right now seemed far more preoccupied with himself than me. I felt awful.

"Excuse me!" I said again, this time much louder. All heads in the room swiftly turned towards me before they began to erupt into laughter.

"Who is this poor urchin you brought with you, Loki?" one of the girls asked, as she stroked my face before wiping her hand on a handkerchief.

Rude.

Another man approached me and scruffed up my hair, giggling all the while. "Is she some Midgardian orphan you took pity on?" He said, causing the others to roar in laughter.

So much for them making an exception for me.

I looked at my Father. My cheeks grew red with embarrassment. Maybe that is all I was to him, some urchin to take pity on. Did he really care? Or was I just a ploy to make him look like the good guy.

In that instant, my head reeled with these notions and more as I stared in my Father's eyes begging him to do something.

"Enough!" He bellowed, quickly silencing the crowd.

"Are you daft?"He questioned as he quickly stepped in front of me, shielding me from their gaze, "This urchin, is the sole heir to the Asgardian throne and you speak to her this way?"

His voice boomed through the entry hall and the group let out a gasp.

"My prince, I had no ide-"

He waved his hand and the man was instantly shut up.

"You had no idea?" he said, chuckling, "No idea, you say. Well, that ought to make up for it! Leave my sight."

The man he had talked to quickly shuffled away. As he did, I could literally see a tail between his legs. It seems as though Loki had enchanted him.

"All of you. Out!" Loki spat and the crowd quickly dispersed throughout the castle. This left all but one.

A man with a single eye and long white hair stood before us. As my father held me, I could feel him tense up at the sight of this man.

"Back so soon, my son?"

I looked up at my father, awaiting a response.

"Father," he said coldly before he cracked a very ingenuine smile, "I believe you owe me thanks."

"And why would that be," Odin asked as he tried to peer behind my Father who was still shielding me.

Loki stepped to the side, showing me to the Allfather. I smiled nervously. What was I supposed to do? This was essentially God and I was standing in front of him in sketchers and a stained t-shirt.

"Meet your grandaughter," Loki said, "Hela Lokidottir, Princess of Asgard."

"Hi, I'm Hela, like he said."

Odin sighed, he walked closer, causing my Father to gain an even tighter grip on me. It was clear to me that Loki was scared of Odin.

"She looks like her mother, of course, she has your eyes," Odin said, making a circle around us, "She has Sigyn's beauty."

"Do not talk about my wife," Loki said.

I gulped, the tension in the room was unbearable. I was dying for something to break this awful encounter. Then, it was as if my prayers were answered.

"BROTHER!" Thor bellowed, entering from behind all father. This Thor seemed very different than the one we had seen just hours ago. No longer somber and sad but almost elated. I wonder what the change was as even my Father began to smile.

"Father! Isn't this glorious?" Thor said, coming and clapping Odin on the shoulder.

"Don't get me wrong, I was truly conflicted a bit ago, I mean Steve Rogers is of course my friend, but you, "He said, smiling brightly at my Father, "you are my blood. My family. And despite you being...well you, I can't deny your right to being a Father."

This was quite a development. Thor, after all, had been the one to deliver me to midgard when I was an infant. I stared in disbelief. My Father seemed shocked as well, even uneasy as he shielded me once more.

"You must assure me that I have your fealty. Both of you," he said calmly, "for Hela's sake. I want to assure she shall be safe here."

Loki obviously wanted to make this work but he was on edge. I couldn't blame him. Both of the men that stood in front of him had betrayed him in one way or another.

"I can assure you, no harm will come to Hela," Odin pledged, "and... as for you, as long as you remain loyal to me, I shall do the same for you, my son."

This seemed sufficient enough for my dad.

Thor came forward and kneeled in front of both my father and I, something he had never done before. He bowed his head, "I pledge my loyalty to you both, Loki. My brother. And Hela, my niece."

He jumped up, smiling as bright as ever.

"Thanks," I said with an awkward smile spread across my face.

I felt so strange. The king of Asgard had just promised to keep me safe, and Thor the God of Thunder just kneeled in front of me. I felt increasingly anxious and out of place. My face felt hot as I held onto my Father tighter. My knees felt week and my stomach felt as though it were doing flip flops. I had no idea if I were simply nervous, freaked out, exhausted or whatever but I just felt awful.

Loki was saying something but his voice was soon drowned out by an awful buzzing sound. I was swooped up by my Father and soon everything went black.
