I had never made it home so fast in my life. My usual 20 minute walk shortened to 10 minutes and as I stumbled through the front door I heard mum and dad arguing in the kitchen. I passed no remarks and ran upstairs. I dumped my schoolbag at the door of my bedroom and flopped down on my bed.
I dialled Tia's number, she picked up on the second ring. "So?" She said a tone of excitement evident in her voice. I recounted my tales, leaving out the bit about the phone number. She was practically screaming down the phone at this point."you will never guess what else" I teased. Tia's reply was just a jumble of what's. I told her about the note. Tia's reply forced me to remove the phone from my ear. She had always gotten way more excited over boys than I had. I put my phone back to my ear only to hear my mum call my name. "Tia I've gotta go, talk to you later"
As I walked into the kitchen the smell of mums homemade mince pie hit me like a wall of bricks. She knew it was my favourite. She set my plate down in front of me as I sat down. I couldn't hide the smile on my face.
"What's got you so happy?" She inquired.
"Nothing, mum" I replied still smiling at my lap.
