Tia purposefully fell into step behind us and pretended to text. I shot a look at her, that she pretended not to see.
"So,Lottie" he said, I liked the way he said my name, he was tainted with an accent that I couldn't quite pinpoint "what do you think of the weather today?"
"The weather?" I questioned
"yeah I decided to go with something safe seeing that it is all that you talk about here in Ireland" he smiled once more.
"Uh, well it's raining, again" I stuttered "but I guess I don't mind, I like the rain"
I turned my head to find his eyes narrowed at me.
I looked down at my feet again, too shy to do anything else. We reached the classroom and walked in all eyes turned to the boy, I still hadn't learnt his name yet. I heard whispers of 'who is he?' Throughout the class. Me and Tia took our seats and He slipped into the seat in front of us.
"I'd like you all to welcome our new pupil, Gabriel Nixon" Mr. Flux announced, overly enthusiastic as always. I noticed a slight shade of red creep into Gabriel's cheeks and I can't help but smile. As Mr. Flux drones on about neutrons electrons and protons I drift into a daydream only half paying attention.
"Lottie" I hear a voice call. I return to reality to find the whole class staring at me. Oops. Mr. Flux is tapping his foot impatiently. "Seven" Tia whispers in my ear. I repeat the answer out loud and Mr. Flux satisfied moves onto his next victim. Needless to say I drift off back to my daydream within seconds, knowing I won't be picked again.
The bell rings signalling break and I watch Gabriel get up and go to leave the room before turning back around and saying "I have no idea where I'm going," looking awkward and blushing once more. "could ..."
"Of course" I interrupt maybe a bit to eagerly. He utters a thanks and smiles once again.
