Hey everyone!

I'm finally back after a stupid hiatus, and I can't wait to keep writing!

Quick note; I hate this chapter with a passion; it's ok my rewrite list. But I've already rewritten it like 5 times and don't have the energy to do it again, sooooo...

Love you all!

Dinner went smoothly enough, Keith supposed.

Not sure why that was so surprising.

He was seated next to Pico with his mom and dad across from them. A big bowl of fettuccine alfredo was proudly centered on the table, labored on by Keith's mother as everyone made their plates.

Pico was obviously a little uncomfortable, with one hand picking at his dinner and the other gripping the fabric of his pants under the table. Keith could shoot him looks of encouragement, but it couldn't do much else to help. The poor guy was sweating bullets.

   Not that his parents noticed.

   Or cared.

"So!" his mom began, beaming. "It's lovely to meet you, Pico!"

The ginger offered a small nod. "It's wonderful to meet you both. The food's delicious, by the way. Thank you."

"Aw, thank you!" she exclaimed, scooping another helping of pasta onto Pico's plate. "I'm just so happy that Keith finally has a friend. He's always had issues making friends, especially after that time in elementary when-"

"Beep!" Keith cut her off, giving his mom a stern look. Now was not the time for this shit.

Although, he wasn't quite sure if a 'right time' existed at all.

Pico spared him a confused glance, but Keith's mother was quick to keep up the conversation. She cleared her throat before steering the topic away from her son, much to his relief.

"So," she exclaimed, stabbing her fork into a couple pieces of pasta. "How is school going for you, Pico?"

The ginger smiled. "Well enough. I'm not failing, so that's good."

Keith's dad finally decided to pipe up. "If you need tutoring, Keith is an excellent student."

"Oh, I know," Pico stated. "He has saved my as- aaaa... grades. Saved my grades on so many occasions. He's really good," he phrased, eyes wide and a forced smile plastered on his lips.

   Close call there.

Keith stifled a laugh, earning a weak elbow to his ribs from his friend. He couldn't help but sneakily tap a discrete message onto the ginger's thigh.

Nice save there, bud.

Fuck off, Pico retorted under the table.

The rest of dinner continued as normal, the conversation light. Keith was relived that his parents seemed to like Pico, despite the clear nervousness overtaking the ginger's face. Although, he eventually seemed to relax and talk as he would normally, save for his usual colorful vocabulary.
