"Stacey," rinig kong tawag sa akin ni Nica.

"Y-yes?"

She sat down beside me. "Stacey, are you worried? He'll comeback safe." wika nito.

I just heard this morning that the Scout Rangers will be going on a mission. Hindi ko maiwasang mag-alala para sa kaniya. It's been a month since we last saw each other dahil sa training niya.

"Nica, what if general, your boyfriend, will not comeback?" tanong ko sa kaniya.

I am expecting her to tear up but i was shocked. She smiled at me, a genuine smile. She held my hand and squeezed it.

"Handa ako para doon, Stacey. The moment he held me in his arms? I already prepared myself for what will happen in the future." She stood up and walked towards the window.

"Really?" i asked her.

She already knew that i am with Vincent. I cannot keep it as a secret forever.

"Yes. Once you dated a uniformed personnel, prepare yourself. He cannot be with you all the time and his life.....was already reserved for the country. Kumbaga his legal wife was the nation and you are just a mistress," bahagya pa itong natawa.

Lumapit ako sa kaniya. I am amused by her strong personality. She really came from a family of soldiers. Veronica didn't want to become a military doctor at the first place. She want to become a prosecutor.

"But he told me that he can remove his uniform for me?" i told her.

She looked at me. "Really? Then that's good. But Stacey Rvynz will you let him do it?" tanong nito.

Bigla akong napaisip dahil doon. Can i really let him remove his uniform for me? He worked for it for years and i know that his profession is very important to him. And for his family.

"Think through it. He really loves you i can see it through his eyes, Stacey. And he also love his job. He worked for it. You are also a soldier, you can understand it." seryosong wika nito. "Kaya nga namin ni Greg, kayo pa kaya?" she continued.

"Paging Dr. Flores. Paging Dr. Flores. Please proceed at the OR."

She tapped my my shoulder and smiled before leaving. I was left here alone thinking.

"May tiwala naman akong babalik siya anuman ang mangyari," i finally said it.

I won't let him remove his uniform for me. He have my full support. As his girlfriend, i am with him through his fights.

"Chua! Come at the OR!"

Natauhan ako sa page sa akin ni Nica. I quickly ran out of the office at dumeretso sa changing room namin. I changed to my operating gown and went inside the OR.

"What happened?" tanong ko.

"Her life is at risk because of her tumor. She need a Craniotomy now."seryoso nitong wika.

Nica is the best neurologist here. "Let's do it." seryoso kong wika.

While doing the operation i stared at the woman's face for a few minutes. She's so familiar.

"We are now putting back the bone." Nica announced.

It's been 4 hours pala and finally tapos na kami. Pagkatapos kong gawin ang finishing touches sa pasyente ay lumabas na ako sa OR. I saw a familiar face outside.

"Mamita?" tawag ko sa Lola ni Vincent.

"Iha! It's been a while." bumeso ito sa akin.

"Ma'am, your daughter will be at the ICU for observation." Nica interrupted our conversation.

I saw her winked at me before going out. Teka--anak? Omg siya ba ang mommy ni Vincent?!

"A-anak nyo po yung pasyente?" tanong ko kay Mamita.

"My daughter-in-law."

Napakurap ako ng ilang beses habang nag-iisip. Nabanggit na ba ni Vincent sa akin ang mommy niya? Wala akong matandaan. 

"Dr. Chua! Dr. Chua! Pinapatawag po kayo sa conference room." hingal na hingal na wika ng isang nurse.

Nagpaalam muna ako sa Lola ni Vincent bago umalis. Kasabay kong pumasok si Nica sa loob ng hall na kapareho ko ring naguguluhan sa mga nangyayari. I saw some high ranking official of the hospital inside.

"Deployment?" tanong sa akin ni Nica.

"Di ko rin alam." sagot ko naman.

The speaker went on kaya napatahimik kaming lahat sa loob. Nakita ko pang pumasok ang lolo ni Nica sa loob at naupo ito sa pinakaharap. I looked at Nica's face and I saw how she gulped. 

"I guess we're complete." our director said.

"The scout rangers are in a mission in Mindanao. We are lack of medical staffs there and  we are planning to send our best doctors in the field. 2 from the Cardio-Surgery Department, 3 from Neurosurgery. " wika nito.

I felt a little nervous on my system when I heard it. Natatakot akong madeploy sa Mindanao. Nica remained calm so i tried my best too. 

Brigade General Flores, divert his attention on our direction. I tapped Nica's lap and point at his Lolo. She just smiled at me.

"Dr.Elionor Casa, Dr. Von Saludares, Dr.Veronica Flores and....." she stopped for a moment."Dr. Stacey Chua. Kayo ang pupunta." patuloy niya.

"Do you accept this mission?!" malakas na tanong ng director kaya napatayo kami ng tuwid.

"Ma'am yes Ma'am!" we answered.

She nod at us and we go back to our seats. Kailangan ko na lang talagang tanggapin ang kapalaran ko. I read the papers infront of us to get the details.

They just continued discussing about the mission. Aalis kami bukas ng alas tres ng madaling araw kaya pinauwi kami kaagad upang maghanda. Sumabay sa akin si Nica dahil kumuha kami ng condo malapit dito.

"Ay malas." rinig kong wika nito.

Lumapit ako sa kinatatayuan niya at tinignan ang ginagawa nito. I laughed when i saw that she didn't wash her BDA's pa. 

"You still have 10 hours pa naman." wika ko at bumalik sa kusina upang magluto.

I just cooked adobo for our dinner. Alas sais pa lang naman at nakahanda na ang mga dadalhin namin kaso we need to rest early. It's not my first time in Mindanao and i know tahimik doon kaso may terorista na naman gumagala. 

"Chill ka lang Stacey ha?Di pa tayo mamatay!" sigaw ni Nica mula sa laundry area.

"I know right.Baka ikaw lang." pabalang na sagot ko.

Binuksan ko ang telebisyon namin upang makinig ng mga balita. Napakunot ang noo ko nang may makitang pamilyar na logo doon. I think i saw it somewhere.

"Kasalukuyan pang tinutugis ng mga awtoridad ang kinalalagyan ng pinuno ng teroristang grupong ALMASIS. Sila ang main suspect sa mga nangyaring pagpapasabog sa bansa."
