5~ Old Acquaintances

The rage took over me and I flew behind the goddess, who was looking contentedly at the golden box in which she had locked my brother. I prepared myself to make the decisive blow, golden lightning gathered on my blade.

Unlike the last time, there was a collision that ended in an explosion. I thought I had made it but the clouds of smoke only formed black squares again which ate their way over my sword towards me.

"Wait, give me back my brother!" I shouted with the last of my strength, but I already could no longer move.

Eventually I lost consciousness.

Once again, I opened my eyes while piercing sunlight blocked my vision. The whole thing felt like deja vu by now.

Unlike the last two times, it felt neither like Diluc's nor like my own bed I was lying on. The ground was hard and wind was brushing my nose.

Wind?

I sat up with a jolt and frowned in frustration and confusion at the same time.

Before my eyes stretched a long beach along high cliffs. To my left was a vast sea. The sun was already high in the sky and glistening in the seemingly endless water.

On the right, a path led towards a gorge that stretched far back between the cliffs. A warm breeze brushed my shoulders.

Where had I landed again?

I slowly stood up from the sandy ground and was about to pat the dirt off my clothes when I paused in my movement.

My clothes... I was wearing exactly the same clothes as the girl in the video game! A white dress with the long white boots that reached my thights and the same whites gloves.

Hastily I reached for my hair and held a strand in front of my face. Even more confused I stared at the same ash blonde hair.

Sighing, I blew the strand back and took a deep breath.

So... I had somehow slipped into a strange world again and had taken on the role of a girl who was looking for her brother... who was looking for her brother?

My brother! He had been sitting right next to me when I was drawn here, what if he had really been stolen by the goddess? What if not only I but also he had been dragged into this world?

Hectically I looked around but as expected I was alone on the beach.

Had my brother really been kidnapped? Or was I alone in trouble again, while he sits at home in front of his computer?

I would definitely wish that the latter was the case, but at the same time I felt extremely small and lonely at the thought of it.

I shook my head. Allowing such thoughts to consume me now was not a good idea. With a little more self-confidence I finally wiped the dust off my dress. Then the hike began.

I walked along the path that wound its way upwards the gorge in many twists and turns. From far away, I could already see a waterfall.

With a few clumsy movements, I climbed a small stone ledge. When I finally reached the waterfall, I had to take a short break.

I was already out of breath now, which confirmed that I was still in my own body, which was just as unathletic here as it was in my own world.

I picked an apple from a nearby tree and continued my way. The path bent to the right and led more steeply upwards. The small gorge seemed to end in a hill.
