The creatures ran crouched but purposefully towards the carriage. Their head was literally swallowed by hair except for the face. It was hidden behind a white, decorated mask.
They were not wearing any clothes, only what looked like a loincloth was tied around their waist. The nails on their toes and hands were long and claw-like.
What on earth...?
"Hilichurls!"
~~~
Charles jumped off the carriage and hurried to the back to help his comrades drive the creatures away.
This world had seemed so idyllic to me, it was a shock to see such creatures right in front of you.
The men did their best to defend the carts from the so-called 'Hilichurls', but one quickly realized that they were not trained fighters. If it went on like this, it would end badly for the wine and especially for the workers!
I just stood there rooted to the spot, not knowing what to do. I was the owner of the winery and therefore also the leader of this delivery, I had to do something!
It felt like my legs were frozen to the ground, I couldn't move. Fear crept up inside me and spread rapidly through my head.
What was I supposed to do? I was not the rightful owner of this body and therefore didn't know how to wield a sword.
Before my eyes, men were being pushed further and further together, but they didn't give up. I bit my lower lip in frustration and clenched my fists. Something... Something!
Suddenly a frightening heat ran through me. Just as I had suddenly known Adelinde's name in the morning, so now I knew what I had to do.
With my right hand, I reached back to my back, where a sword suddenly appeared. As soon as it was there, I grabbed it and began to rush towards the tumult of men and Hilichurls.
I moved out of pure reflex. Everything around me was coming through to me with difficulty. It was as if my body was moving on its own, as if the movements were ingrained in it.
The crowd was getting closer and so my senses were getting sharper. With the sword in my right hand, the selfconsciousness in me swelled more and more.
It had to be a broadsword. Large, long and single-edged. The blade was blood-red and pointed on one side, as if a part of it had been cut off. The handle was black and resembled a black cross with quite a bit of distortion. Inside it glowed a red ball, like the heart of the sword.
As I held the broadsword in my hand, I could tell that owner and weapon must have had a long history together. It fit perfect in my hand.
I was now close to the commotion and stopped abruptly. Without further ado, I also brought my second hand to the sword's hilt and took a long arc to strike.
"Down!", I roared, as the old familiar heat also caught up with me.
The heat sprang from the medallion on my belt and ate through my whole body. My sword was not unaffected and glowed in bright flames.
With all my strength I swung the broadsword and sent an eagle made of flames towards the crowd. It passed over the heads of my men who had ducked as ordered and took the creatures with it.
After the short flight, the creatures fell back to the ground a little further away, where they disappeared into thin black particles.
Processing the situation, I lowered my still burning sword and took a few deep breaths. I could hardly think straight, nor was I aware of how I could accomplish such a blow. Was this the power of a Vision?
