Natasha's Pov
"What's going on down here?" I asked both girls.
"Were waiting." Tamara said putting down another card. They were playing go fish under the table.
"We have a question we wanted to ask so we were waiting till someone came down here." Cassie said drawing a card. "Got any three's?" Tamara asked her.
"Go fish."
"What's the question?" I asked them as Tamara drew her card and Cassie looked through her cards.
"Sleepover!" Cassie said. "Got any queens?"
"Go fish!"
"Well you will definitely have to ask Y/N about it, how long did it take you plan this?" I asked both of them stacking up their draw pile. It had fallen over.
"Just after you made Y/N fly. You know she and Clint are the only ones she really trusts." Tamara said. Just then Y/N poked her in the shoulder with their foot. "Sorry..." Tamara said and tapped their knee.
"I win!" Cassie said putting down her last pair. "Want to play again?"
I heard Wanda's voice in my head.
"Maybe in another round, I will watch you though. I haven't played in a while." A lie, I played with Thor yesterday. In his words he "Wished to know more about this Midgardian ritual." I think he just wanted to play a card game.
I found it. Wanda's voice swirled around in my head. Look, she said again and I could see everything she saw.
It was like walking into mirrors full of images that were not their. Veiled with a smoky haze until they were uncovered. Suddenly the image shifted and we were watching something unfold.
A small room and a younger Y/N. About seven. Leaning against the wall and crying. Then someone came in and dragged them out.
A nine year old Y/N trying to silence a baby.
A five year old Y/N kneeling in front of someone.
A eleven year old Y/N hunched over papers and computers, typing away.
Y/N the way they looked now standing in front of two smaller children.
As those scenes flashed though my mind, it felt like forever but was only a few seconds. Suddenly the shifting pictures stopped.
White walls, no sound. Only their own breathing. Suddenly a automatic door slid open and someone came through. They were blurred like the slightest breath of wind could blow them away. They walked closer their footsteps echoing louder than Y/N's frantic breathing. Slowly coming.
A flash of color and everything was gone.
Back to the hall of mirrors.
What was that? I thought. That's why their not trustful. They have seen little kindness. Wanda's though echoed in my mind. I felt her presence withdraw itself from my head and I sighed quietly. I closed my eyes for a second then cracked them open. How did they survive?
