Just a warning that I do believe Kaz was goth at some point in his life

Jesper POV

Kaz confronted him the day after.

"I know you visited my office last night, and I know what you want to know."

"Yeah, I'm sorry, blah blah blah-"

"No it's fine," said Kaz, waving a hand in assurance.

Jesper looked up with a surprised face. "Who are you and what the ever-loving fuck have you done with Kaz?"

Kaz glared at him.

"No, yeah, that's you. What did you want to say?"

"If you wanted, I could tell you what you want to know, or at least something related to it."

"No, that would be invading his privacy." And Jesper couldn't do that. It didn't seem fair to Wylan. And if he found out Jesper could possibly lose his trust forever. And that would suck.

"Well, the offer stands." Kaz walked away.

"You should get a cape!" Jesper yelled after him. "Be all swishy and shit!"

"Shut up, Jesper!"

"Just admit that you're goth!"

Kaz turned the corner and didn't reply.

Wylan POV

Wylan was lying on his bed, utterly bored. He had nothing to do. He didn't have a phone, he couldn't read (for obvious reasons), there were no games, and no one to call (through the home phone).
Jesper had left a couple of minutes ago to go for lunch with Nina. They saw each other a lot. Were they dating? The thought made him slightly unhappy, but there wasn't a reason behind it.

Right?

Wylan groaned. What could he do?

Finally coming to a decision, Wylan impulsively decided that he was going to go to a store, get nail polish, and paint his nails. Because he could, and nail polish was ridiculously cheap in this area of the city.

Luckily, he was ambidextrous, which was funny considering he couldn't even write.

He walked to the convenience store down the street.

After browsing for a while, he just decided to get black. Because why the hell not. He went up to the cashier to pay for his stuff.

She looked at him judgmentally.

"You buying nail polish for your girlfriend?"

"No, I'm buying it for myself," Wylan said, not really interested in what she had to say.

"What are you, emo?"

"Saints, not this again," Wylan muttered.

The lady just couldn't leave him alone. "That music will rot your brain."

"Shove off, Karen. I'm just buying nail polish."

He paid and left. It was okay if a friend called him emo (even though he strongly believed that he wasn't), but he didn't like it when strangers did it. He didn't know them, couldn't trust them.

Saints, this part of the city really had an effect on his thinking.

Jesper POV

Jesper leaned back in his chair.

Nina scowled. "You're going to crack your head open when you fall."

Jesper rolled his eyes. "Oh please. You sound like a teacher." He raised his hands into little puppets. "You know, five years ago, little Pepijn cracked his head open and died from that," he mocked with an obnoxiously high voice.

Nina laughed despite herself. "Not all teachers are like that!"

"Well, Mrs Oosterhuis thought otherwise."

"You don't mean-"

"Yup. My nasty, old, 8th grade history teacher."

"The one that reported you for hitting a homophobic kid?"

"That's the one."

Jesper took a bite of his croissant. "Thfesw awe dewlicioush," he said through his full mouth.

Nina took a sip of her coffee. She grimaced. "This, however, is not delicious. Tastes like cardboard and hairballs."

"How do you know what hair balls taste like?"

"Some moments that I am not very proud of."

"Nina, you weren't supposed to have-"

"Shush, Jesper. I was joking." She took another sip. "Oh, that's nasty. I took that sip for plot purposes."

Jesper stood up. "Well, come on. Take the croissants and we'll go."

While they were walking, Jesper put his arm up on Nina's head. She scowled.

"Only Matthias is allowed to do that, Jes."

"You're short. You're just a natural armrest, y'know?"

"Oh, shut up. I'm not that short."

"I dunno, you're pretty short."

"I'm like, 4 or 5 inches shorter than you. I'm 5'10, Jesper. Wylan is short."

Once they had gotten to the car, Jesper drove to Nina's and dropped her off there.

Jesper caught a glimpse of the guy behind the door. Matthias. He had shoulder-length blond hair, and he was tall. Maybe a bit taller than Jesper, even.

Jesper went back to the apartment. There, he found Wylan sitting in the bathroom, painting his nails black.

Jesper snuck up behind him. "Emo."

Wylan startled. "All the Saints, fuck. You may as well just have thrown me into cardiac arrest."

"Knew I would scare you."

"I will get you back for that."

Jesper sat on the toilet seat. "Sure you will. I don't think you could scare a koala, even if you tried."

"That's stupid. I'm very scary."

"I'm trembling in my boots," Jesper said, a small smile on his face.

"As you should," said Wylan. "I'm abso-fucking-lutely terrifying."

"Scary as a kitten."

"I hate you."

"That's hurtful." Jesper stood up and walked back to his own room. What a mess.

He started to clean. And then he found some cool stuff he'd been looking for. That was the end of the whole 'cleaning his room' thing.

He grabbed his phone and scrolled through social media for a second. Which was actually about 2 hours, and it was now dinnertime.

He went to the kitchen and heated up a pot of water. And burnt himself in the process, but that's irrelevant.

He poured the water into the ramen cup, and then added the flavouring.

There literally wasn't anything else in the fridge. Or the pantry. He'd have to restock tomorrow.

Jesper slurped up his ramen.

Now he wanted to die. It was spicy ramen. His tongue had been set on fire, charred, then set on fire again.

They didn't have any milk or bread or anything, so Jesper had to deal with his now-dead mouth.

"Hey, Wy! You like spicy shit?"

An answer was yelled back from the other room. "Yeah, why?"

"Want my spicy ramen?"

"Sure!"

Wylan came over and ate a bit of the ramen.

"That's spicy. Too spicy!" Wylan was fanning his face. "It tastes like a death!"

The issue was resolved by the end of the night, and they went to bed with burnt-ish tongues.
