༉˚*ೃ 17. LITTLE THINGS OF LIFE AND LOVE!

"DO YOU HAVE your phone charger?"

The way that her three family members were crowding around Tsubame was suffocating, trapping her in the genkan between their bodies and the front door but refusing to let her escape. It was a lot for when she was just trying to get to school. Miki was leading the pack with her question, pointedly staring into Tsubame's eyes—though her gaze dipped every few seconds to scrutinisingly peer at the remaining bandages patching up Tsubame's nose.

With a slight smile, Tsubame waved her hands dismissively in front of her, as if to say, 'I'm fine!'. She gave them a light-hearted, "Yes." Reached a hand back for the doorknob.

It was impossible to escape. Not with the way they were boxing her in and asking her questions at rapid-fire speed. Miki interrogated, "Your animal encyclopedia?"

Tsubame didn't think she'd be forgetting how to use her Quirk anytime soon, but she nodded anyway, grimacing just a little as she tried to squeeze out of the genkan and away from her family. "Uh-huh."

A sudden thought seemed to strike Kazuo. "Oh, what about a water bottle?" her father fussed, his tired eyes wide. "Water is important, you know!" His hands were hovering anxiously before her, unsure what to do but want to fix something. Even though there was nothing broken in the first place.

"I've got my water bottle in my backpack!"

          "Sunscreen?"

"I'm going to be indoors all day!"

"How about your wallet! Otherwise you won't be able to get on the bus—"

          "Yep, I have that too!"

          "Headphones?!"

          "Of course!"

"Pencils!" shouted Tomomi, wanting to join in with the bombardment and holding up her own pencil case decorated with cream bunny rabbits, her voice raised to maximum intensity.

"Yes!" Tsubame's loud shout broke through their incessant worrying, cutting all members of her family off. Then, Tsubame winced and took a few steps back. Opened up the front door. "Look, I really appreciate all the concern, but if you keep harassing me then I'm going to be late!" Tsubame gently pried Tomomi's fingers off of her school shirt and took the extra piece of tamagoyaki that Miki had shoved in her face. Tossed the food in her mouth. Then, she made a break for it before her dad could ask if she'd remembered her bento box, too. "Thanks! Bye!" Tsubame sprinted down the street while Miki shouted after her—using all of her years as her junior high's star track runner to make her escape towards the bus stop.
