༉˚*ೃ 18. SCOUTING OUT THE COMPETITION!
AKATSUKI TSUBAME STILL had her bento box in one arm when she practically flew into the bustling cafeteria, ducking under the arms of some Second Years and trying to find her table. She didn't want to miss a seat with Mina and Kirishima and the rest.
The lunch hall was still bustling, filled with students of all different kinds of Quirks getting food from Lunch Rush, milling around, and conversing at tables. Of course, it wasn't hard to spot two heads of cherry red and cotton-candy pink sitting over towards the other end of the room. And then she heard Kaminari's laugh and caught a glimpse of Sero's bright grin, and, yep. With new invigoration from the fact that Aizawa hadn't completely chewed her out, Tsubame booked it over there in a run, nimbly dodging around other U.A. students with her bento held high—not wanting to drop it in the dash.
But something to her left caught her eye. She skidded to a stop beside where Midoriya, Ochaco and Iida sat before she could even get to her table. "Oh, Midoriya-chan, is that Mt. Lady?" Without letting the boy respond, Tsubame swiped up the notebook he was writing on. It was a full-page spread of the Mineyama Hero, filled with messily scrawled notes about her attributes as a hero, her Quirk, her fighting style, and some detailed sketches. It seemed to be a total breakdown of the Pro Hero she was.
Midoriya looked aghast. "I—I—"
"Cool!" Tsubame exclaimed, holding the notebook up to the light. It was battered, water-damaged, and torn—burned?—, clearly either well-loved or traumatized. But the pencil writing shone back at her clear as day. As the pages flipped down, it was easy to see just how many other entries on Pros there were. From Eraser Head to Kamui Woods. She was beaming. "So awesome! You take this hero stuff seriously, huh? Man, I wish I could take studying as seriously as you." Tsubame handed him back the notebook, which he clutched nervously, like she was about to make fun of it. Or tear it to shreds. "You'll have to give me some tips some time!"
"Uh, thanks, Akatsuki-san," Midoriya murmured back, still looking hesitant.
"Call me Akatsuki-chan!" corrected Tsubame with her voice drawing out each of the exaggerated syllables, swiping up the bento box her father had lovingly prepared for her. "Your hair looks cute today, Uraraka-chan." She patted the short brunette girl on the head before skipping off towards the empty space at her table. "See you guys later!"
