16. My heart can touch yours

The party has now started, opening the stage by Taehyung's parents speaking their welcoming remarks.

"Thank you everyone for coming tonight! My wife and I just came back from the US from a two-month long business trip. Therefore, we really missed our partners here." Mr. Kim said.

"That's right. So we thought, there's no better way to gather all our friends together but to throw a party for our youngest son's birthday!" Mrs. Kim added.

"So please, let us all give a round of applause to our son, Kim Taehyung. Happy birthday son!" Mr. Kim cheerfully greeted Taehyung, as the latter walked into the door by the stage. Hobi comes after him, guiding him to their table.

Taehyung bowed to thank all the visitors but he seems to be searching someone among the crowd. But Hobi has already pushed him to sit down as their parents aren't done with their speech yet.

"Look at these two sons of ours, really took after my handsomeness, right honey?" Mrs. Kim just chuckled at her husband's statement. "Well, we know all of you are very curious of what sumptuous dishes the chef has prepared for us tonight. But before we go to dinner proper, we'd like to give you all a special performance by the son of one of our closest friends.

May everyone please welcome him to the stage, as he serenades us with a lovely song, Park Jimin!"

Yoongi, Namjoon and Jungkook clapped their hands and cheered for Jimin as he goes up the stage. Jin saw Taehyung from afar, his head turning to follow Jimin as he eyed him walking to the stage. Jin just stared down at the table at what he saw when Jungkook whispered to him, "Our parents, Namjoon and Yoongi's, are just acquaintances with the Kim's. But still, important enough for us to receive an invitation here. But Jimin and Taehyung's parents are really close friends. You know how close they are?"

Jin looked up to stare at Jungkook as if asking him to continue, "Close enough to want their children to end up together. That's why they dated before. But Jimin liked Yoongi more." Jungkook grinned at him.

Jin doesn't know why he suddenly felt insecure again of Jimin's presence. He's in his deep thoughts while watching Jimin sing on the stage. He's looking so confident in front of these people, singing to the song 'Serendipity' while swaying his graceful body to the music. Everyone in the audience is mesmerized by his beauty and talent.

Jin then looked at Taehyung, his eyes are also fixed on the stage which made him feel a bit sad. He hasn't even talked to Taehyung to greet him in person yet and here he is, looking at him enjoying watching Jimin.

The whole venue applauded as Jimin finished his song. The latter is bowing before the crowd while flashing them his most adorable smile. "Thank you very much. Happy birthday to my dear friend, Taehyung!

Please let me offer to you a wonderful present.. another performance of someone so precious to you." He smiled towards their table at the middle.

"Shit! What is your boyfriend doing?!" Jungkook muttered and glared at Yoongi. The latter just shook his head, clueless too.

"Everyone, please give a round of applause to one of our schoolmates too, a very close friend of Taehyung, Kim Seokjin!!" Jimin shouted at the stage, pointing his arms towards Jin's direction.

Taehyung stood up to look at the table being focused by the spotlight. He saw Jin wide-eyed, with mouth opened, surprised at what Jimin has done.

"Oh wow! Another performance from Tae's classmate. They are really so talented in that school, aren't they?" Mrs. Kim said around their table.

"Hyung, Jin couldn't possibly go up that stage in front of many people." Taehyung whispered to Hobi.

Hobi glared at Jimin and stood up. But then he saw Jin, walking already towards the stage.

Jin walked up the stage and went to the center to bow at everyone. He snatched the mic from Jimin, who sarcastically smiled at him. He then walked towards the band and whispered something. Then someone pushed the piano to the center of the stage and fixed a mic stand for him.

Jin took a deep breath before speaking on the mic, "Happy birthday Tae! I wish tonight would turn out perfect for you, for us."

Taehyung smiled at him, looking up the stage as if worshipping the only man he loves.

Jin sat down and began playing the piano to 'Epiphany'. It is a song he has always loved and been practicing in the piano. The crowd seemed to be amazed watching his magnificent atmosphere while playing the instrument beautifully.

His voice is also a surprise to Taehyung, especially when he's hitting the high notes. He knew Jin can sing a bit when they're singing along to their favorite BTS songs, but he's never heard him sing like this while playing the piano.

"Wow, what a talented boy! And he's very handsome, right?"

"His voice is just amazing! He can be an idol with that looks. He's really brilliant!"

"Is he Taehyung's boyfriend? The one who sang earlier said he's precious to Taehyung, right?"

People amongst the crowd are murmuring to each other while watching Jin on stage in awe.

Jungkook is also standing, recording Jin's performance in his phone, while smiling the whole time. On the other hand, Jimin looks so pissed off with his arms crossed, staring at the stage. Yoongi is trying to comfort him, "Babe, your voice is more angelic for me. Don't be upset, hmm?"

Taehyung's parents seem to be so captivated by Jin's voice and performance as well. They were asking who this boy is and Hobi whispers to them to introduce Jin briefly.

"Taehyung, honey, he's really handsome and very talented too. You should introduce him to us sometime soon." Mrs. Kim told Taehyung. The latter smiled proudly at them and stood up as Jin finishes his song.

The guests all stood up to cheer and clap for Jin's performance as he bows to thank everyone. The band then started playing as the emcee announces that the dinner will already be served, and the dance floor is also open to everyone while the band plays them music.

Taehyung took Jin's hand as he walks down the stage, "You're so amazing, nerdy! I didn't expect you can pull off a performance like that! Didn't you throw up in front of the class when you need to report a topic?" Taehyung chuckled.

Jin hit him playfully and said, "This is the last time I would ever do something like this! It's your birthday so I thought I should do better not to embarrass you, right?" Jin smiled and hugged Taehyung, he whispered to him, "Happy birthday Taetae!"

Taehyung pulled him in the middle of the dance floor, a few other guests already dancing to a slow mellow song. He placed Jin's arms around his neck and he held him tight in his waist. He pulled him close to his body and they swayed slowly to the music while staring deep into each other's eyes.

"Thank you my nerdy! You already made this night perfect for us.." He leaned in to capture Jin's lips but Hobi suddenly smacked him in the head.

"Are you fucking serious?! Why are you smooching on Jinnie in the middle of the crowd! Get a room!!" Hobi said pulling Jin to him, "Come on, Jin. Mom and Dad want to meet you. Eat with us on our table, hmm?" They walked away, leaving Taehyung in the middle of the dance floor.

"But hyung!! I said it's already perfect..." Taehyung shouted, he sighed and again, feeling frustrated.
