ADORN ZHARICK VALE
I DIDN'T WANT to go home yet... I didn't want to bring the negative vibes with me. I was outside the club, calling Hunter to let him know I wouldn't be coming home for a while. Franco, on the other hand, was standing in front of me, insisting on taking me home. I declined, but he said he wouldn't leave until I got into a ride.
"I'm not going home for now," I started.
Franco looked at me with a furrowed brow.
"Why?" Hunter asked.
"I just have a lot on my mind."
"Where will you sleep? At your office?"
"No, I don't know yet."
"Don't let Novan go home. He needs to stay with you wherever you stay. I can't be with you. You know it's dangerous for you to be alone."
"Okay," I replied, biting my lower lip. It's good that Novan didn't snitch.
"You should stay at Bloom Hotel. It's more secure there. I have friends living in my unit who can keep an eye on you."
"Okay. I'll go home tomorrow."
"Alright, be safe."
"Thank you," I said, ending the call. I turned to look at Franco. "What?"
"Where are you going?"
"Bloom Hotel."
"I'll take you there."
"No need. I'll have Novan pick me up."
"Novan?" he asked seriously. "The guy you were with earlier?"
I nodded. "Yeah." I opened my phone, found Novan's name, and sent him a text.
"What's your relationship with him? You two seem close."
"He's a friend of my brother and me. Actually, Novan was my first crush, but my brother scolded me. He didn't want me to have a crush on his best friend. He wouldn't allow it."
"Do you still have a crush on him?"
"Not anymore."
"Does he like you?"
"I don't know."
"Why is he always with you?"
"He's the only friend I have here in San Tiago. The other one just disappeared like a bubble."
"I'll take you there."
"No need."
"You've been rejecting me all day..."
"I might fall for you even more. We're just casual, no need for pick-ups and drop-offs."
"Really?" he replied with sarcasm. "We just had sex for almost four hours."
"Those four hours were all lust, not love, Doc. For me, pick-ups and drop-offs are acts of love. It's a big deal." Suddenly, my phone buzzed, and I saw Novan's reply. He's on his way. "Novan's coming."
"Is it okay if I follow you? Just to make sure he only drops you off at Bloom."
"Novan will probably stay at Bloom too. It's dangerous for me to be alone."
"I'm here, though."
"I know, but the protection I need isn't simple, Doc. My family has enemies, and being a lawyer adds to it. Most of the time, I can handle myself when I'm alone, but right now, I can't. I have too much on my mind, and I'm distracted. That's why I need Novan with me."
