ADORN ZHARICK VALE

"JENNA, DO I have a schedule now?" I asked Jenna.

"Yes, Miss. Mr. Erazius Gomez will be here in five."

"Thank you, Jenna."

Before long, my client, Erazius Gomez, arrived. "Hi, Mr. Gomez."

"Good afternoon, Attorney Vale."

"Please, take a seat."

"I've heard a lot about you," he said before sitting down.

"Should I be worried?" I joked.

"No, I heard good things about you."

I laughed. "What can I do for you?"

"We need you..." he began. "Our company needs you."

"Is Archer not bothering me anymore because you're the one doing it now?" I asked, uninterested. For months, Archer had been reaching out to me about the company they work for. They want to recruit me.

"I'll think about it."

"We'll give you three days."

"Alright," I replied. "Is that the only reason you came here?"

"Yes. We'll contact you in three days."

I TRIED CALLING Franco, but he wasn't answering. I think his surgery isn't over yet. I looked at the time, it's been almost ten hours since the surgery started, and he's still not done. He must be hungry by now.

I didn't wait for Franco to respond and drove to Fitz Hospital. As I left the office, I said goodbye to the other lawyers working there. I nodded to the security personnel as well. I hired many of them because I know our profession is dangerous, and I want my colleagues to feel safe while working.

I headed to the parking lot and got into my bulletproof car. It's not safe once I'm outside the parking lot, and I can't have a bodyguard with me every day, so I needed to use this kind of car.

After driving for over ten minutes, I noticed a motorcycle that had been following me for a while. "Of all times, they had to show up when I have somewhere to go. Wrong timing!"

It's probably that ex-senator again who sent his men to kill me. He was accused of raping his secretary. He wanted me to represent him as his lawyer, but when I found out the truth that he really did it, I turned him down, even though he was willing to pay triple my fees. He got even angrier when he found out that I suggested Chase, my best friend who disappeared without a trace, a great prosecutor, and my rival in law school, to represent the victim.

Before I take on a client, I always have Archer do a background check because I only want to defend the oppressed.

"Siri, call Archer," I said. Fortunately, voice commands exist, so I didn't have to touch my phone.

Archer quickly answered. "Yes, Attorney? Why the hell are you speeding?"

Their company owns a satellite, and Archer can track anyone in a matter of seconds.

"Can you help me? Do I need to fight them? I'm going to see Franco," I said.

He chuckled slightly. "Wow, the Fitzmael family keeps getting bigger," he joked. Archer was used to situations like this, so he could joke around.

"Do you think we'll end up together?" I asked. I made a turn and passed by an area with fewer people, trying to avoid involving anyone else.

"I'll pray that you two really end up together. You're a great match," he said.
