ADORN ZHARICK VALE

WHEN I GOT to my office, the first thing I noticed was the bouquet of flowers Dad had sent. It instantly made my blood boil. I grabbed them and tossed them straight into the trash. I called Jenna, who was waiting outside my office. "Call my brother and tell him to tell our father to stop sending me flowers," I said, my voice firm, before hanging up.

The rest of the day, I tried to keep myself occupied, and for a while, my mind wandered away from my problems. I didn't even bother going to my private room upstairs, all I wanted was to go home as quickly as possible.

When I got home, I could tell that Tatay George had probably cooked dinner, since the food on the kitchen counter was still warm. My stomach let out a low growl, so I sat down to eat, though I wasn't really hungry. Franco wasn't there. I checked my phone, hoping for a message or a missed call from him, but there was nothing.

I knew I had asked for space from Franco, but deep down, I still wished he would come back. I was worried about him... I still loved him, more than anything. I opened my phone and, with a heavy heart, gathered the courage to call him.

He picked up right away, but the silence on the other end of the line only made the distance between us feel wider.

"Franco," I said softly, biting my lower lip to hold back the tears. "Where are you?"

He let out a deep sigh. "Bloom Village."

"Okay, when will you come back?"

"I don't think I'll be coming home tonight," he replied. "I'll keep safe, if that's what you're worried about."

My chest tightened at his words. "Okay..."

"Okay... Is there anything else you need from me?"

"N-No, nothing."

"Sure. Goodnight, Adorn." And then he ended the call.

I just stared at the screen of my phone after he hung up. My vision became blurry from the tears welling up in my eyes. I tried to shake off the sadness that washed over me, but I couldn't help it—my tears just kept falling.

I couldn't take it anymore.

I quickly changed clothes and walked out of my room. The bodyguards looked at me, confused, when they saw me outside. "Let's go to Bloom Village," I told them.

They nodded in agreement.

I hadn't even gotten into my car when a car suddenly approached. The headlights blinded me, and for a moment, I couldn't tell whose car it was. The bodyguards quickly surrounded me and made me duck down. In an instant, they had their guns out, aimed at the car that was coming toward us.

"Hey! It's me!"

"What the hell?! You didn't even say anything!" one of the bodyguards growled, clearly frustrated.

"Who's that?" I asked, still unsure.

One of the bodyguards extended his hand to help me up. "It's Sniper," he answered. "Our Team Leader."

I looked toward the car and saw Novan, grinning, standing next to my brother. "Which one is Sniper?" I asked, confused.

"The one beside your brother," he replied.

"Novan?!"

They nodded.

"Sorry, I didn't say anything. I just wanted to surprise you guys and see if you were doing your job properly," he said with a laugh. "Hi, Adorn! Long time no see!"
