Quirina tied the boat to the riverside, turning and walking up the grass. Nimue climbed up the branch pathway instead.

"Hide," she hissed, watching as the wagon came into view. Someone exited it and walked up to them.

"Born in the dawn," he said.

"To pass in the twilight," smiled Nimue.

"Hurry now," he extended a hand for Nimue and helped her up, "In the wagon. You aren't my only stop today."

Quirina walked after them and he double backed in surprise, "Didn't see you there."

"That happens quite often," she replied.

When he opened the door, they saw a man and his daughter. They had dark hair and greenish patterned skin.

"Snake clan," he confirmed, "They must have run all the way from Harrow's pond. Hundred miles, woods are full of Fey survivors." He climbed in after them, sitting next to a pretty woman with black hair and brown skin.

"The paladins keep us busy," he said.

The man and his daughter peered at them skeptically, "Its alright, I won't hurt you."

He turned to the woman on his side, "My wife, Clothilde. And I am Dizier."

"Nimue," she replied.

"Quirina."

The young girl kept leaning over her father to look at Nimue, playing a sort of hide and seek game with her. Quirina ignored it, instead looking down and pulling out a knife and sharpening it. It had become a pastime of hers, sharpening her knife. For it kept her away from her emotions.

Nimue and the girl were laughing now, Quirina tried to shut the sound out. No matter how much children tugged at her heartstrings, she had to keep a neutral face, she had to stay strong, she had to forget feelings.

As Quirina sharpened her knife, letting the ziiing sound fill her ears, she thought back to her last meeting with Lancelot. Yet again, he'd saved her life - which meant she owed him. She owed him when he first saved her, in Pelt. Then removed the debt during their time travelling when she saved him from seven Paladins.

An uncomfortable feeling in her stomach told her that the next time they met, it wouldn't be good.

Quirina listened as Nimue convinced them to be taken to Gramaire, the couple agreeing to take them close enough.

The little girl switched places with her father to sit next to Nimue, "We are going to Nemos?" she said in Snake.

"Nemos? I'd like to go there someday," replied Nimue, "What's your name, little one?"
